Hallberg- Rassy bluewater cruising yachts are hand-built in Sweden. The attention to detail, quality of construction, layout design and performance at sea are legendary as evidenced by the fact these vessels are certified Lloyds CE, A- Unlimited Ocean. Designed by German Frers, the centre-cockpit (aft owner cabin) HR39 has proven outstanding under sail in a seaway. "Terra Nova" is a joy to sail. She has safely (and very comfortably), crossed the great oceans regularly achieving daily runs of 200 NM plus while putting well over 20,000 NM under her keel. This means the vessel is set up for efficient, short-handed cruising and thus comprehensively equipped. For example... *A complete array of quality electronics supported by sophisticated electrics. *Efficient cockpit sail-handling systems (in-mast furling main). *Sheltered centre cockpit with classic HR windscreen, foldaway spray dodger, and cockpit canopy with rollaway clear curtains. *A 59 hp Volvo Penta MD22 fresh-water cooled engine. *Demountable wind vane-steering (backup for the Robertson AP20 autopilot) etc.
Below the deck, the interior is all Swedish quality, style and function. For example... *The superbly crafted Mahogany interior fit-out. *The quality upholstery (in excellent condition). *The light and ventilation via deck hatches and ports. *The ducted Espar heating. *The spacious saloon (6'6" headroom). *The superb lighting throughout, (even the ample lockers are lit). *The outstanding full-function galley and the private cabins.
"Terra-Nova" is simply an exceptional vessel in all respects. She is maintained in excellent condition without compromise and is ready to go to sea when you are. It must be said, that blue-water yachts of this calibre and condition and with such an international cruising history are rare.
Call Paul at OR Matthew at to arrange an INSPECTION.
NOTES:
*"Terra Nova" is an AMSA-registered Australian vessel reg. No. 859449.
*Standing rigging was replaced in December 2019.

Accommodation
Step aboard via the midship side gates or the transom steps onto the teak decks. The centre cockpit offers great vision and complete shelter with the fixed windscreen, folding spray dodger and full canopy with clear side curtains. With the drop-leaf mahogany table and BBQ on the transom, the cockpit effectively extends below-deck accommodations. Below the deck, the fine mahogany fit-out is a delight. The spacious saloon is light and bright with ample deck hatches and side ports. The layout and the use of space are outstanding. Storage lockers and drawers are sufficient for a full crew on an extended cruise. Attention to detail is amazing, for example, large lockers are lit. The vessel is heated centrally by an Espar system. Aft is the cosy owner's cabin, featuring a generous double bed and a curved sofa. Forward to port is the navigation station with the fully-equipped U-shaped galley opposite. The saloon features a dinette with a beautiful Mahogany central drop-leaf table, a curved settee to port and another settee to starboard. This settee can be converted to provide a pilot berth with lee cloths. Forward of the bulkhead is the bathroom (shower) and then the twin berth V-cabin.
