The Huon Pilothouse Yachts (designed by Hank Kauffman) are a practical and comfortable cruising yacht. The Huon custom 37 "Chill'n Out" is no exception!.
This Huon 37 offers great sailing and motoring performance but importantly offers a true pilothouse experience. The "Chill'n Out" was a combined effort between the boat builder (Huon Yachts) and the owner (who still owns her). She was extended slightly from the 36' version to allow plenty of room for a modern walk-through transom and swim platform.
Stepping inside, The hand-built cabinetry and timber finishes throughout are in superb condition and feature with the navy upholstery which provides a nautical but comfortable feel.
On the port side as you enter the main cabin is the dinette which boasts a varnished timber table top and plenty of seating. Opposite is the helm station (and seat) so that cruising can be undertaken inside when required. The helm station has excellent visibility, natural light and instruments such as auto pilot are close at hand.
The well-appointed galley runs along the starboard side (forward of helm station) and features a 2-burner stove with oven and grill, single stainless steel sink and plenty of bench space (granite) and cupboard space. Forward of the galley is the accommodation which has a private large double berth and the head and shower is on the port side (opposite the galley).
The Pilot House design delivers a commanding 180°+ view through the windscreen, and the cockpit and saloon share a single level for effortless flow.
The other accommodation is down aft on the starboard side as you come into the Pilot House and this also enjoys a large double bed and privacy.
On deck, the cockpit is a great feature. The walk-through transom and deep swim platform are ideal for easy boarding from a dinghy, and there is an excellent sturdy stainless steel davit system with twin solar panels mounted above, along with the cockpit bimini and hot and cold shower facilities in the cockpit as well........
"Chill'n Out" is set up to be easily sailed shorthanded, or even single handed with the furling headsail, and mainsail in a boom bag with lazy jacks.
Engine access is brilliant, with dual access, revealing the Vetus 35HP Diesel engine with approx 1850 hours on the clock, providing easy and efficient cruising at about 6 knots (Max speed approx 8 knots).
Equipment Highlights
- Vetus 35HP shaft-drive diesel
- Coursemaster CM85Auto Pilot
- Raymarine AXIOM plotter/sounder combo
- Webasto diesel heater
- 2 X 80 Watt solar panels on stainless steel targa bar
- Fully battened mainsail with lazy jack system into boombag
And much more................................
If you are looking a well-priced, exceptionally safe and comfortable cruising yacht under 40 feet, "Chill'n Out" deserves your attention.
