AdvantEdge is one of Tasmania's most successful offshore racing yachts, offering a rare opportunity to acquire a professionally developed and extensively upgraded Modified Inglis 47 with a proven record in Australia's premier ocean races. Having completed several successful and highly competitive Sydney to Hobart and Launceston to Hobart Yacht Races in most recent years, AdvantEdge is truly race-ready to compete at the highest level in Category 1 offshore racing.
Originally launched in 1995 and campaigned successfully for over two decades under the current ownership, AdvantEdge underwent a major performance-focused redesign and rebuild during 2018-2019 under the direction of the famed Fred Barrett Yacht Design, with assistance from Salter Marine of Hobart. The result is a significantly faster, stronger and more competitive offshore racing yacht capable of performing at the front of the fleet.
The comprehensive redevelopment included relocation of the mast and centreboard, a new centreboard and bulb, carbon chainplates, new rudder and bearings, stern modification, extensive structural reinforcement, a complete re-spray, upgraded electronics, communications systems, new engine installation and an extensive Doyle sail inventory.
Since the rebuild, AdvantEdge has achieved outstanding results including:
- Line Honours - 2021 Launceston to Hobart Yacht Race
- 2nd Across the Line - 2020 Launceston to Hobart Yacht Race
- 2nd Across the Line - 2022 Melbourne to Hobart Yacht Race
- 3rd Across the Line - 2025 Melbourne to Hobart Yacht Race
- Three top-performing Sydney to Hobart campaigns, jostling with many larger vessels.
AdvantEdge is offered with an extensive sail wardrobe featuring Doyle and Quantum race sails and is equipped with a full B&G offshore racing electronics and communications package that truly leaves nothing left to be desired.
The yacht has complied with Category 1 offshore classification for the past three years and will be sold with current Category 2 compliance, with little to be done to return to CAT 1.
MAJOR REFIT HIGHLIGHTS:
- New T-section centreboard and bulb (can be lifted to 2.3m)
- New centreboard case
- Mast and centreboard relocated aft
- New carbon chainplates relocated to suit non-overlapping headsails

- Rudder relocated and redesigned
- Structural reinforcement throughout vessel
