The design objective was for a 36-foot yacht that would be a competitive yacht but that also could cruise a family comfortably. The result: The Islander 36 and there were more than 600 produced, many of which are still sailing the worlds oceans. The Islander 36 is a sailing classic. Hand laid construction, a beautifully finished & spacious interior, and a fast stable design. The 36 was the standard of excellence and quality in the late 70's and early 80's and remains a favourite with knowledgeable sailors today. She has seen some important upgrades recently, including the mast being pulled and refinished and rigging replaced (2013-14). Hull was also stripped and re-glassed below the waterline in 2008 prior to sailing the Pacific. Fixed ports professionally replaced ( 2015). Current owners have committed to selling their yacht and reasonable offers will be considered.

Remarks
The yacht has the classic good looks of the era and there is no doubt of their sailing ability. There is a lot of information out there on the web regarding these yachts, including some of the passages they have completed for their owners. If you are looking to purchase a mid sized yacht as a first vessel or downsize into something slightly smaller, she will bear further inspection. With some modest upgrades and a little TLC she should serve her new owners admirably.
