MAJOR PRICE REDUCTION, OWNER WANTS SOLD!!
John Pugh boasts an excellent reputation for designing capable and comfortable steel cruising yachts. This 48ft Steel Cutter is an exceptional example of his work. Having been originally launched in the mid 80's, the vessel underwent a comprehensive refit in the early 2000's where it received a completely new interior fit out in stunning Huon Pine and Blackwood. The two year refit was completed to a very high standard by two craftsmen, and the vessel was relaunched in 2005 as a near new vessel. The current highly experienced owner purchased the vessel in 2009 and have cruised extensively including three trips from Hobart to the Great Barrier Reef, extended cruising through Queensland, and even completed the Brisbane to Gladstone Race in the cruising division. Early in his ownership, he also significantly improved the vessel by moving the mast forward and extending it to improve the the balance and performance under sail. This included adding a new mast step, compression post, bowsprit, and standing rigging upgrade. The current owner has continued to significantly improve the vessel including a NEW 2021 NANNI 140HP DIESEL ENGINE, NEW PROP SHAFT AND PSS DRIPPLESS SEAL, NEW AUTOPILOT, MUCH OF THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM REWIRED, the list goes on. With these upgrades, and the vessel's proven capability, this is an excellent opportunity to purchase an exceptional cruising yacht. Whether you want to live onboard, cruise around Australia, or even circumnavigate the globe, this vessel can do it all in style, comfort, and safety!
Stepping inside, the stunning Tassie Timber fitout really is exceptional gives the vessel a warm and traditional feel. The central saloon features excellent natural light, a timber dinette to starboard, and seating for 8 in comfort on the neatly upholstered settees. The vessel is also easily heated with the wood heater in this area, which also adds to the ambience! The galley is also to starboard and is well appointed with a 4 burner stove with oven, 12V fridge/freezer, stainless steel sink with H/C pressurised water, and plenty of storage. The accommodation is ideal for cruising with family and friends. There is a generous cabin aft with double berth and single berth opposite, and second private cabin forward with double and two single bunks. The package is complete with bathroom forward with electric toilet and pull out shower.
On deck, the cockpit is very well protected with the hard dodger and clears. This is a great space to relax in your favourite anchorage or keep watch out of the elements. The wheel is aft of the cockpit, and the primary winches are in easy reach. This vessel is well set up for easy sailing shorthanded with the Raymarine Autopilot, furling headsail, self tacking staysail, and mainsail in a boombag with lazy jacks. There is excellent access around the wide side decks, and a recently upgraded Muir electric anchor winch on the bow. This vessel is well set up for extended cruising to even the most remote locations and boasts 2000L of water and fuel. This give a cruising range under engine of 2500NMs!
This vessel is powered by the NEW Nanni 140HP Diesel Engine. This is easily accessed below the companionway, and provides easy cruising at 7.5 knots. With only 200hrs on the clock this is a huge feature of the vessel!
With its proven cruising history, huge fuel and water capacity, new engine, and stunning presentation, this vessel really is something special! For more information please call Jo Breen on or John Radonic on .
