Lotus 10.6 Just Listed

Moonshadow has just returned from a 6-month coastal cruise up the East Coast of Australia, Beauty Point TAS to The Whitsundays QLD, and return. She is a beautiful and quick coastal cruiser. Now, with a world cruise in the planning stage, I am looking for a heavier displacement boat and have reluctantly decided to put Moonshadow up for sale.

Designed by the renowned Alan Wright, and built to a very high standard in NZ, the Lotus 10.6 is a highly sought after cruiser/racer. With a spacious interior and cockpit, she is an ideal family cruiser or a comfortable liveaboard with her generous fridge and hot water system.

The Lotus 10.6 has also excelled on the racecourse. Under the previous owner to myself, Moonshadow had been a very successful competitor in the Hobart racing scene, she has had podium finishes both offshore in the Launceston to Hobart Race, and in almost every inshore race series held on the Derwent River Hobart.

Moonshadow has been fastidiously maintained and upgraded over the years, including, new 2020 Standing Rigging, Chain Plates upgraded, and full mast service, new 2020 prop shaft, cutlass bearing, Volvo shaft seal, and Slipstream 3 Blade Folding Prop, new 2019 Raymarine Axiom 9" Chart Plotter and Instrument Pod, 2019 Respray of topsides and new 2018 Steering Cables. Full professional refit of the Galley including Corian Bench Tops. Going forward to 2025 she was fitted with AIS, new HF Radio, StarLink and the premium of Windvane Steering Systems... The Hydrovane.

Below decks she has a spacious interior with good head room and ample dinette seating. The well-appointed galley is aft, with quality Corian bench tops, top loading fridge, 3 burner gas stove with oven, stainless steel sink with H/C water, and extensive storage. The accommodation is ideal for cruising with family and friends. Forward is a generous double berth. There is also a generous double quarter berth to starboard. The dinette can lower down to create a 3rd double in the saloon, with a single settee berth opposite when additional accommodation is required. The package is complete with private bathroom with manual toilet, vanity, and H/C shower.

On deck, Moonshadow is very well set up for both leisurely cruising or the full race crew. With all controls leading aft, self-tailing primary and cabin top winches, Raymarine autopilot, furling headsail, and mainsail in a boom bag with lazy jacks, she is easily sailed shorthanded. The Nav Pod with Raymarine Axiom Chart Plotter is a great addition, and the vessel also features the modern Raymarine i70 displays for Depth and speed in easy view. There is good access around the side decks, and an electric anchor winch on the bow, with easy anchor storage when racing. This vessel also features an extensive inventory of both racing and cruising sails.

Moonshadow is powered by the (new 2014) Lombardini 30HP Diesel engine with just over 1300 hrs on the clock. This provides excellent reliability and easy cruising at 5-6 knots. With its capability, significant upgrades, and both cruising and race winning history, Moonshadow offers true versatility, achieving the rare balance of comfortable cruising and competitive racing. Disclaimer: As with all second-hand vessels, Moonshadow is no exception in requiring ongoing maintenance. Since returning from my 6-month cruise I have been working on a few repairs and upgrades, some complete and some ongoing as follows:
Internal strip and deep clean - completed
Topside rails and dodger base re-varnish - completed
Spray dodger plastic clears replace - completed
New boom bag zip - completed
Engine full service - scheduled for Jan '26
Nav Lights intermittent suspected loose earth - to be done
Interior dome lights, some not working - ongoing
Deck ventilation ports, cracked glass leaking - taped over - to be replaced
Gass solenoid & detector to be replaced - PEEL 200 Kit Purchased, not yet fitted.
Anchor Locker door hinge requires replacing - ongoing

Note: I will continue to work on completing these projects, but I am also happy to negotiate on price if you want to accept as is, and finish off these tasks yourself.
