Aluminum cutter-ketch laying in French Polynesia and awaiting your offshore adventure - Cooks, Niue, Tonga, Fiji, New Zealand, Australia, Northa America, Patagonia, Antarctica!
Athanor is a truly unique and stout ocean voyaging vessel. Designed by Sylvestre Langevin, she was built by the renowned Metalu yard in France and constructed entirely of 5083 aluminum: 6mm welded aluminum plate on aluminum framing for the hull and 4mm for the superstructure. Her hull design is both classic and modern, reflecting an aesthetic and skill in craftsmanship not typical of aluminum boats.
Don't let her age deter you! Athanor was fully refit in Seattle in 2015: NEW Beta Marine 75HP diesel engine, new Harken furlers, new Willis sails, new rigging (new forestays, backstays, lower shrouds), new Ray Marine electronics, new Katadyne watermaker, etc. Hull and deck paints were completely removed to bare metal, etched, and new Awlgrip coatings applied. Fixed windows were replaced, and new glass installed on all Goiot hatches. The interior was refit as well: new refrigeration, new Force 10 stove/oven, new interior lighting throughout, new cushions, new headliner, etc.
She has had light use since arriving in Polynesia (COVID lockdowns) and all efforts have been taken to retain the beauty of this unique vessel while also ensuring her continued longevity as an active ocean-going vessel. Pride in ownership and commitment is evident throughout, including the choices of equipment and the quality of work undertaken.
Athanor is set up ideally for a cruising family of four, or a group of 4 to 6 people. Meticulously upgraded and maintained, she's truly ready to splash and sail whichever direction you want her to take you -- with safety, comfort, and speed! French Polynesian import tax is paid, with a secure and safe hardstand in place, making the logistics of taking ownership very simple.

Accommodation
There are two single cabins on each side of the cockpit well. The first cabin, to port, lays aft of the galley and serves as a passageway to the aft cabin (with doors on each end). A second cabin, to starboard, is accessed just aft of the Nav station and is an almost mirror image of the port cabin but does not serve as a pass through. Each single berth runs fore and aft, just over 6 feet in length, and has three storage cabinets above with sliding doors. A nook shelf outboard of the berth provides a place for personal articles with top accessed storage below the shelf. Under the bunk is a 75 gallon stainless steel water tank. Ventilation is provided by an opening port to the cockpit and Hella fan. There is reading lighting, and doors at each end of the passageway.
The aft cabin is fully enclosed and located at the end of the port passageway. The athwartships double berth has a latex foam mattress and comfortably sleeps two. To port are three deep cabinets and a large hanging locker with a louvered door. An upholstered seat forward of the berth serves as a dressing settee as well as a step up to the berth. Under the bunk is the Isotherm hot water heater and a very large storage compartment. Ventilation is provided by two large opening hatches; there is LED lighting in headliner, with natural side light from fixed ports in the hull.
Additional sleeping accomodations: (1) The table in the main salon also drops to serve as an additional bunk for two people. (2) Forward of the nav station is a very convenient pilot berth that can serve as a bunk while under passage or at anchor.

Galley
The galley is to port as one enters the boat from the offset companionway. The U-shaped galley provides a very efficient cooking space, both under passage and at anchor. The top loading DC refrigerator is along the outboard counter top, just aft of the three burner Force Ten stove. Above the refrigerator and the stove are low storage cubbies for plates, cups and cutlery. Above these cubbies are three spacious cabinets with ventilated double doors. The double stainless steel sink faces forward, just to port of the centerline, and is molded into the stainless steel counter top/drain board surface. Fresh water is delivered under pressure, or by foot pump whilst under passage to ensure that water tanks will not inadvertently be emptied. Under the sink is open shelf storage. On the inboard leg of the "U" are three large drawers, with four drawers and tilt out garbage bin to starboard and spice rack facing forward. The propane solenoid switch is in the galley.

The house bank consists of four 6-volt 400 Ah Full RIver AGM batteries, installed in 2022, for a total capacity of 800 Ah at 12 volts. A separate Optimum AGM battery is used for engine starting, with the switchable house bank available if needed. Battery performance is monitored through a Victron bluetooth monitor (2019). Primary charging is provided via a 250 Amp high output Balmar alternator with a Balmar 614 regulator. Two fixed solar panels provide an additional 200 watts of charging capacity, connected through a Victon MPPT bluetooth controller. Shorepower (110 volt) is connected via an isolation transformer, with a Magnum 3000 Charger / Inverter. All engine and house electrical systems are completely isolated from the hull. All new LED lighting was installed in 2015.

Presentation
Remarks
Athanor extensively refit in Seattle, WA during 2013-2015 and has been meticulously maintained since that time. Pride in ownership and commitment is evident throughout, including the choices of equipment and the quality of work undertaken. All efforts have been taken to retain the beauty of this unique vessel while also ensuring its continued longevity as an active ocean-going vessel.
During the refit, she was repowered with a new Beta Marine 75 HP diesel engine. Hull and deck paints were completely removed to bare metal, etched, and new Awlgrip coatings applied. Her hull is epoxy coated and has been coated with SeaHawk Smart Solutions non-copper bottom paint to minimize any exposure to dissimilar metals. All Standing rigging was removed, Staylock fittings inspected and replaced as needed; new forestays, backstays, lower shrouds. All deck fitting were removed and annodized, fixed windows were replaced, and new glass installed on all Goiot hatches. New Harken furlers and sails for both genoa and staysail, as well as a new mizzen sail, and all new running rigging. A new electric Lofrans windless was installed with a re-galvanized Bruce anchor and 300 feet of new 3/8" HT chain. Her electrical system is completely isolated to ensure hull integrity. New AGM batteries were installed in 2022 and, with her 250 Amp high-output Balmar alternator, is ready for LiFePO4 batteries if the new owner wishes to convert.
