The Nordic 44 designed by Bob Perry is now a classic of a boat designed around the world but with a real emphasis on performance, capable of fast navigation in complete safety offshore and easy maneuvering in groups or even alone. In normal wind conditions, one can expect to travel 170 to 180 nautical miles per day without even pushing the boat. She also sails in very light winds, which allowed the owners to cross the ITCZ without the need for an engine during their Pacific crossing last March. They traveled on average more than 6 knots for the passage of 3,010 nm without engine in a trade wind strength below normal (10-15 knots).
SV Simplicity is a perfect example of a performance-equipped, blue water cruising monohull. A very well maintained boat whose list of equipment and fittings is astonishing: Engine, Rigging, Electricity and electronics, fittings and aesthetics, all have benefited from special attention by its owners who have now decided to discover the catamaran experience.
The boat is built with a hull reinforced by a triaxial grid and stringers, the deck-hull joint is chemically and mechanically bonded, the bulkheads are integrated into the hull. The deck is made of fiberglass in high stress areas and marine CP and fiber elsewhere for greater lightness and durability. The lead keel is securely installed so as to absorb any impact from a hard object without reaching the structure
The boat has an original plan with a rear cabin opening onto the companionway with its private bathroom, a large saloon isolated by a double door and a forward owner's cabin also having its own bathroom. The saloon can be converted into a large berth for greater comfort when sailing, the U-shaped kitchen is spacious and welcoming.
Among the main recent upgrades, we can note:
Isuzu engine, transmission and V drive re-built in 2021
Recent 500Ah lithium battery bank
Complete navigation electronics replaced between 2021 and 2023 (Garmin)
Running rigging completely replaced between 2021 and 2023
