O utbound Yachts need no word of introduction. Celebrated by world cruisers and featured consistently on such sites as Practical Sailor (who dedicated one of their Youtube Video to the Outbound 46 - Lady K Sailing), or Attainable Cruising with a lengthy and wonderful report by John Harries, or Bluewater Sailing Boat Reviews, which you can also read online, plus numerous publications and owner's reviews.
The Outbound 46 has a well-deserved reputation as the gold standard of blue water cruising sailboats. Designed by renowned US naval architect Carl Schumacher, built to the highest standards and continually refined over more than 20 years in production, the Outbound 46 will take you comfortably across any ocean. Her solid GRP hull, encapsulated keel and high righting moment, she is also a nimble, quick but stable boat that is specially designed and built for serious offshore voyagers.
Yet, when many go-anywhere yachts compromise on deep, cave-like interiors, sluggish pace and more classic lines with closed-in cockpit and steep companionway, the Outbound 46 bring you all the comfort and feeling of a modern yacht, with a wide sugar-scoop transom and open cockpit for easy access, bright and airy interior with large windows, beautifully handcrafted cherry wood interior and top quality stainless steel portholes, this yacht combines the best traditional ship building can offer, while offering a modern sailor what they need to feel comfortable.
Built by Outbound Yachts in Xiamen City, China, next door to the Nordhavn and HH Catamaran factories, amongst others, the Outbound 46 is still in production. So far 80 Outbound 46 have been built, with many orders continuing into the future. Bright Moments is hull number 33.
All Outbound Yachts are semi-customised and built to order, with each owner working with the factory to refine their yacht around their needs.
For Bright Moments's owners, years of research and discussions with Bluewater cruising specialists, this meant designing the interior of their yacht with a view to live on board in comfort and independence in the most remote parts of the world and cross 30,000 nautical miles. Storage and intelligent weight distribution were taken into consideration, with every space used for dedicated storage for supplies, personal items, tools, spare parts, sailing and safety equipment. Bright Moments is a work of art with few equals around the world for anyone looking for the perfect world explorer.
Please read on and click on the Additional Descriptions for the detailed inventory and list of recent upgrades. This truly beautiful yacht is continually maintained and improved at no expense spared. Her owners are on board and will welcome you for an inspection or via video call if you wish. To make sure she is fully checked and ready to go, they have also commissioned a full in and out of water survey with Don Buckley, a well-known Australian surveyor dedicated to the Bluewater cruising community who flew to Fiji to inspect Bright Moments on the 10th of September 2025, just as we prepare to launch the boat on the market.
Please get in touch and we will send you the report.
Bright Moments comes turn key and with everything on board for you to start your journey now.

History and details of the Yacht: A note from the Owner
"Outbound Yachts have been part of our lives since 2006 when we were first introduced to the brand. We weren't sure where we wanted to sail or for how long, but after examining the thoughtful design, high quality of build, and consistent attention to detail of these yachts, we were certain that an Outbound could take us wherever our dreams might lead. As we reflect the remote places we've travelled, the many lasting friendships we have made, and the life-changing personal growth we have experienced as a result of owning Bright Moments, we realize that investing in her those 17 years ago was the best choice we could have made.
We took delivery of our very own brand new Outbound 46 (hull #33) in 2008 after an inspection trip to Xiamen, China, where she was built. We commissioned her in Seattle WA, USA and sailed her to Mexico the following year where we cruised intermittently in the Sea of Cortez. When the time was right for us to live aboard full time, we first sailed to San Diego to prepare her for crossing the Pacific and extended offshore cruising in the tropics and beyond.
Leaving from Mazatlan, Mexico in 2017 and arriving in the beautiful Marquesas Islands in French Polynesia twenty-one days later, we spent the rest of season following the milk run route through the Cook Islands, then Tonga, and on to New Zealand where we remained for the cyclone season. With two interruptions (during COVID 2020-2022 and for nine months in 2024) we have happily and continuously lived aboard since 2016, typically passaging to the tropics in the Southern Hemisphere's winter and summering in amazing New Zealand during the tropical cyclone season. We've hauled out annually for routine maintenance in Whangarei, New Zealand. Bright Moments rested on the hard in the good care of Norsand Boatyard during our above absences. Cruising over 40,000 nautical miles in the Pacific Northwest, Mexico, the South Pacific Islands and New Zealand, we have not harboured a moment's doubt in Bright Moments' capacity to carry us safely to our far-flung destinations.
Our seventeen years of boat ownership make us appreciate the fine balance involved in creating the ideal boat. Over the years, we've taken every opportunity to tweak this already impressive sailing craft and make adjustments, upgrades, and additions to enhance her convenience, safety, and efficiency. As a result, we feel Bright Moments exemplifies the balance all boat owners strive to achieve: day to day cruising comfort and safety for us and our guests, impressive passage performance, and that luxurious feeling of being home.
Now that Bright Moments is in top form - better than new, we believe! - we have reached a point in our lives when it's time to look at next steps. We have loved our nine incredible years of dedicated cruising and living aboard. However, we are not getting any younger. We feel the demands of sailing -especially while passaging- more keenly than before. We wish to transition off the boat while we are in control of our circumstances - as much as one ever is! - rather than in response to events that necessitate change. Bright Moments is not simply a superb cruising yacht; she is an adventure waiting to happen. She has a lifetime of cruising and passage-making ahead of her. We have brought Bright Moments here to Fiji, our favourite tropical cruising ground, where new owners can explore the region's stunning beauty and warm hospitality with confidence, in a tried-and-true vessel. Accommodation
One enters Bright Moments' cabin face forward via an easily accessible, three-step companionway. The interior is beautifully finished in satin varnished teak with a teak and holly sole. Four long salon windows fill the living area with natural light. Opening ports and hatches with integral teak insect screens provide excellent ventilation. She sleeps six very comfortably in this two-cabin layout with a space-efficient pullman berth forward and quarter cabin aft, plus a convertible settee. The salon table lowers and converts to an additional Full XL berth.
All access hatches in the teak and holly cabin sole are locking and drawers and louvered cabinet doors have positive latches to keep gear in place.
The master stateroom is located forward of the main salon. Bright Moments features a portside tapered Queen-sized pullman berth fitted with a thick foam mattress resting on a custom Froli Sleep System set for extra comfort and ventilation. Two reading lights are mounted on the aft bulkhead. The bed hinges up to access a spacious storage area. Four drawers slide out from the open side of the berth. On starboard, there are five drawers topped by a pop-up mirrored vanity and flanked by two cedar-lined, shelf-topped hanging lockers. Long, closed shelves with sliding doors run portside above the berth, with a small open nook adjacent to the head of the berth as a handy bedside shelf. A large overhead hatch, four opening ports, two dorade vents, three dimmable dome lights (one is red/white), 110V and 12V outlets, and a removable lee cloth complete this stateroom.
The main salon is aft of the owner's cabin. There is a 2.5 m (7 ') long U-shaped dinette to port with height adjustable drop leaf table, and a straight settee to starboard. The cushions are upholstered in durable burnt orange Ultrasuede with a wheat-coloured accent. Spacious storage is located under all settee seats and behind outboard settee backs. The table lowers to transform the dinette into a Full XL berth. The mid-section of the back rest of the starboard settee drops down to reveal bottle storage behind, and becomes a small table, great for cards or drinks! Bookshelves with adjacent lockers run above both settees, port and starboard. The starboard settee converts to a comfortable sea berth with lee cloth when underway. Teak framed windows run the length of the saloon. Three overhead dome lights (two are red/white) are on a dimmer switch, with four reading lights providing additional illumination. Two adjustable electric fans, one large, screened hatch and two small ones and a central solar fan provide ample ventilation in this comfortable area.
The guest stateroom is aft of the nav station and is comprised of a comfortable Full XL berth with firm covered foam mattress resting on custom Froli Sleep System set for extra comfort and ventilation. A storage cabinet with sliding doors runs above and outboard of the berth with another along the aft bulkhead. For additional storage, there is a hanging locker, louvered shelves, and a bedside nook as well as a drawer below the berth. Two ports and a small screened hatch open into the cockpit, with an additional port above the hanging locker on starboard for excellent ventilation. Two reading lights, a red/white dome light, two fans a 12V outlet provide additional comfort.
Heads:
Forward of the master stateroom, with its own privacy door is the forward head with separate curtained shower. This space is finished in white fiberglass for easy maintenance with a drain in each section and select teak trim around the mirror and shower enclosure. A 25 cm (10") round stainless sink is inset into the Corian countertop beneath a long medicine cabinet with sliding mirrored door. The manual toilet is on the centreline. There is a light over the sink and 110V GFI outlets. The floor is textured non-skid fitted with a drain for easy cleaning. The shower enclosure features an adjustable showerhead on a flexible hose with well-placed bracket, a shelf for toiletries, a fold down seat, removable teak grate in the sole with a drain. Each area has its own frosted opening port and Hella touch red/white dome light.
Forward of the head is a watertight bulkhead separating the forward & main cabin from the bow, protecting it in the event of a breach.
Aft of the galley to port is the aft head, finished in molded white surfaces that are both bright and easy to clean. The compartment is well situated next to the companionway, the perfect place to shed salty foul weather gear before entering the main cabin. The stainless-steel sink is set into a Corian countertop outboard with a light above. A cabinet above the vanity has sliding mirrored doors with further storage in the cabinet below. The head faces inboard along the hull side aft of the counter. The sink faucet is on an extendible hose and together with the removable teak grate in the sole and floor drain, allow this head to double as a shower stall.

A teak storage shelf mounted overhead above the sinks makes dishes accessible while holding them securely in place. Secure storage cabinets surrounding the stove and fridge have plenty of space for additional dishes and cooking essentials. The Corian countertop extends into a peninsula to complete the U-shape of this elegant galley and provides extra workspace. A stack of four drawers with a full set of stainless cutlery rest beneath the peninsula, and an additional storage cabinet opens on the aisle side. On starboard aft of the nav station, a locking pantry with a deep shelf and four spacious drawers has ample room for ship's stores. Whether at dock or in a seaway, the galley meets the varied demands of ship's cook and her hungry crew.
The Force Ten three-burner propane stove with oven, broiler, and locking door is gimbled and features a fitted galley strap and fiddles for safe and confident cooking at sea. Nesting stainless pots with lid and sturdy clip-on handles store neatly in a locking drawer beneath the stove. A 18/10 Stainless Fagor six litre pressure cooker makes meal preparation fast and efficient.
