Bliss is a Pearson 385 center-cockpit sloop, built in 1984. Bliss is fully equiped for cruising the World she is equiped as follows.
-The engine is a Perkins 4-108 with 4250Hr. It had a major service in 2014: head gasket replaced, injectors serviced, injection pump rebuilt. In 2019 the engine was physically removed (into the main saloon) for cleaning and painting, and the rear main oil seal was replaced (to solve the decades-long oil leak from the rear seal).
-The main sail is implemented with in-boom roller furling also made Doyle in hreat shape.
-Jib was made by Doyle, Alameda CA, in 2009. It is a 130% genoa, 8.3oz. Dacron, with "Mocha Tweed" Sunbrella cover. It is in pretty good condition. It uses a Harken furling system -- I think it is a "MK II" system.
-Bliss has an asymmetric spinnaker. It is made by FX Sails, in 2008, their model number 301 (I believe), 1094 sq. Feet. It has a sock for easy deployment and dousing.
-There is a riding sail which is useful when at anchor. Bliss has a tendency to "sail" back and forth in high wind while at anchor.
-The primary anchor is a Rocna 25kg. It is stored on the bow anchor roller, with the shank locked in a custom-made bracket with a ball-pin. The anchor rode consists of 200 feet 5/16" HT galvanized chain, spliced to 200 feet 5/8 " 8-plait nylon line.
- The windlass is Lofrans Tigres 12V horizontal windlass, with individual up/down foot buttons mounted on the deck on either side of the windlass.
- Secondary bow anchor, the anchor locker is at the bow on port side.
In the anchor locker is an aluminum folding Fortress anchor.
- Stored in the lazarette is the old CQR anchor, which was the primary anchor before purchasing the Rocna. It is a fine anchor, just not as good as the Rocna.
- Solar has 2 330w pannels conected to Victron MPPT 100/ 50 Smartsolar charger
- The wind generator is a MarineKinetix MK450 Marine Wind Turbine. This wind generator is mounted at the top of a pole on the stern (which also functions as the pole for the outboard engine hoist). The maximum power output of the generator is about 400 watts (about 28 amps @14 volts into the batteries).
- Bliss is equipped with a 6-person Viking RecYou Pro liferaft, purchased in 2010; and serviced/repacked in 2014. It is mounted in a cradle on the stern rail.
- There is a propane barbeque mounted on the stern rail; it is a Magma Newport.
- Cockpit electronic instruments
At the main helm, we have the following instruments:
Simrad NSS8 multifunctional display (aka chartplotter). This was a pretty top-of-the-line Simrad model when it was purchased in 2010. This display handles chart plotting, route planning, radar, AIS boat locations; and is integrated with the Simnet to get information about wind speed, depth, etc.
Simrad IS20 wind instrument: shows true wind speed & direction; apparent wind speed and direction
Simrad IS20 combi instrument: shows depth, water temperature, boat speed through the water.
Raymarine EV 100 tiller autopilot
- Bliss is equipped with a Monitor wind vane self-steering system. The main framework is mounted on the stern.
- Fuel tank
The forward fuel tank was re-purposed from its original function as a water tank. When the inside of the tank was painted it was with 3M AC-236 FUEL TANK SEALANT (2 HOUR).
The total tank capacity is approximately 53 US gallons (200 liters).
Aft Fuel tank is the day tank holds 45 US gallons (170 Liters. )
- Second head was converted into storage and machinery space. It house's;
The watermaker is a Spectra Ventura VT-150D-12, with a nominal output of 6.3 gallons per hour.
Sailrite sawing machine, and refrigerator Compressor and condenser unit.
- Saltwater washdown pump at the bow anchor locker.
- Saltwater foot pump in galley sink.
- Head its a Jabsco hand pump it can either be used with saltwater or freshwater.
- Electronics
The main electronic items at the Nav Station are:
VHF radio
SSB radio (control unit)
SSB radio main box (in hanging closet)
Pactor modem (for SSB)
VHF Antenna radio splitter
AIS transceiver
NMEA multiplexer
Barometric pressure meter
WiFi router
Terminal strips
A fuse panel
AC outlets
- DC Electrical System
The DC electrical system includes two battery banks: Bank 1 is the main house battery, comprising two 6V 300Ah AGM batteries, combined as a back of 12V 300Ah (under companionway ladder) ; Bank 2 is the backup, or starter battery, which is a single 12V AGM battery. Charging by a Victron Dc to Dc charger from the main house bank. Also being charged by the engine alternator a Presto lite 50 Amp.
have better alternator as back up and regulator but power we make and need is enogh with what she has.
- AC Electrical System
The AC electrical system was originally designed for operation at 120VAC, with US-style outlets. However the AC-to-DC battery charger "Sterling ProCharge Ultra" has an input voltage range of 90-270V, 40-70Hz, so it is safe to hook up to any type of shore power. However, since all of the AC devices on the boat are designed for 120VAC, when the shore power is higher than 110VAC, we typically do not apply shore power directly to the outlets; instead we switch to using the output of the DC-to-AC inverter (12VDC to 120VAC) to supply AC power to the outlets.
- Waste
Bliss has a relatively complex waste system. This is due to the fact that, for many years, it was lived aboard in a marina which did not permit overboard waste discharge; boat had to takeen ti the pump out station. To minimize the frequency of pumping out, a second second waste holding tank was added in 2013 in the bilge.
- Freshwater System holds 170 US gallons (640 Litters)
- Hot water heater
The hot water heater is Raritan model 170611,6 gallon capacity. The heating element is currently 240VAC version. The original 120VAC element is also onboard.
also heats using engine cooling system.
-Dinghy: Walker Bay Genesis SLRX310 with a 2022 15HP two-stroke Mercury engine.
- Stand alone Freezer Dometic CFX355.
