Rustler 36 Yachts are very well known for their exceptionally rugged structure, and are one of the big names when it comes to "go anywhere"-boats. Hence why so many Golden Globe skippers pick Rustler as their choice of Yacht.
The UK-built, Holman & Pye-designed Rustler 36 started life in 1980 and remains in great demand as it fills a requirement for which few modern boatyards cater these days-a heavier, full-keel cruiser designed for the express purpose of crossing oceans in comfort and style.
36 feet is a size that is very manageable by a solo skipper and for two people. Her current owners are a couple who have sailed her across the Atlantic and Pacific and lived on her full time since 2018.
She is a beautiful long keel boat, that is classic to the eye, and offers a practical and well planned interior.
Artemis of Lleyn has a U-shaped galley which has everything conveniently to hand, enabling the cook to reach the counter, stove top, double sink and lockers whilst remaining safely strapped in, and the cosy saloon features settees that are 6ft 6in long and make ideal sea berths. She has a one and a half double aft bunk behind the navigation table, which is currently used as a storage area. Forward, there is a cosy V berth with 1.9 meters of length, and a roomy head/shower room to port and a hanging locker to starboard. The owners have consistently maintained her without exception. Her Yanmar engine was newly installed in 2019, and being real sailors, it has barely been used, as this couple are true blue cruisers who are happy with what the wind gifts them.
The boat's cockpit has a high bridge deck to protect the companionway from the risk of flooding, while teak handholds ensure an easy descent below decks. Her cockpit is spacious and protected, and the helm is tiller steered.
Artemis of Lleyn will suit a solo sailor or a couple looking to engage in ocean crossings as she is a great midsize cruiser with all the right attributes for a bluewater adventure. She is also a boat that would cruise the local coastlines comfortably, as deck space and interior space is well planned and roomy, and her interior bright and well ventilated. Currently she is actively cruising the many islands of Langkawi, and is available for viewing by appointment. So please contact us today at Seaspray Yacht Sales, Langkawi, for any further information or to make a viewing appointment.
Extra Information : Are you aware that buying a boat in Langkawi is tax free? There are no duties paid here when purchasing a boat. There is also NO CUSTOMS stipulations on how long your boat can stay here, and you do not need to pay any import duties! Its a perfect place to own a boat that you can use for seasonal cruising, for a liveaboard holiday home, for a base for a liveaboard while you do FIFO, or visit the Grandkids! As well as a great place to get to know your boat, live on a third of the cost of Australian living, and prepare the boat for further cruising adventures. Either around Asia, surfing Indonesia, Malaysian regattas, across the Indian ocean to the Red Sea or South Africa, or East to PNG, the Pacific and Australia. So many cruisers begin their adventures here, and we look forward to helping you with any questions. We have lived here in Langkawi ( on a boat) for 13 years, and cruised the area for over 28 years. BTW, I have not even touched on the amazing marina resort lifestyle of Rebak Marina Langkawi! Seriously! What a life! Look it up. REBAK ISLAND RESORT AND MARINA, LANGKAWI.

Deck Gear
With the original teak decking having been removed and the decks painted (2022) the boat is crisp and clean on deck
with the blue non-slip paint contrasting nicely against the white coachroof gelcoat. Both the pulpit and pushpit
on the boat were custom fabricated to suit the first owner's requirements for extended offshore passages. The
pushpit cleverly incorporating an overhead gantry providing mountings for all navigational antennas as well as
controls for the monitor windvane and a mounting for the towed generator. Stout guard wires run the full
length of the boat between the pulpit and pushpit with gates provided port and starboard while a folding
boarding ladder is fitted in the port gate.
A substantial twin roller stemhead fitting allows storing of the anchor on the bow, the anchor rode being
handled by the Lewmar 'Anchorman' electric windlass, chain stowing directly into the chain locker. The anchor
windlass was completely overhauled in 2019.
The foredecks are of a sensible width to allow movement around the boat securely when alongside or at sea
with timber grab rails running the full length of the coachroof.
Protected by the custom fabricated sprayhood and deep coamings the cockpit provides a safe and secure
base for crew. The seating and sole are still fitted with the original teak decking. Mainsail reefing lines and
halyards are lead aft to either side of the companionway with the reefing lines for the foresails running along
the port and starboard side decks allowing all sail handling to be undertaken from the cockpit. The mainsheet
runs on a horse across the cockpit (traveller rail, car and endstops all new in 2024) and is easily reached by the helmsman. Storage is provided with a large locker to starboard and a self draining gas locker aft.
New (2022) 100% waterproof polycarbonate windows (the original Rustler aluminium framed windows are onboard to be refurbished and replaced if required)
Chain and ropes: More lines than are ever needed are stored in the starboard lockers. Also six fenders.
Two Lewmar hand winches on the coach roof and four outside the cockpit.
Lewmar Anchorman Power 700 for anchor (see ground tackle above)
Swimming Ladder - Secured on side deck, folds neatly over guard rail.
Cockpit Cushions - Full fitted set in blue fabric.
Tiller: She has a tiller. As the wind vane or the autopilot spend most of the time steering, this is much easier than a wheel. The tiller folds out of the way leaving all the space for guests. Has seated 10 Pax.
