A popular and highly capable pocket-size cruising vessel, the Sailmaster 845 presents a wonderful, neat package. "The Cape", launched in 1984, has spent its life cruising Tasmania. With an exceptional amount of space and amenities for its size, The Cape presents well inside and out. This was largely thanks to its rare two-owner history, the first of whom was a qualified carpenter which resulted in a well-finished interior, and the second saw an ownership span over two generations within the family.
The saloon area has excellent head room, well over 6ft, with a galley set to port that features a 2-burner metho stove and stainless-steel sink, plus a great amount of storage and a large in-built insulated icebox. To starboard, a handy nav-station sits just forward of a large single quarter berth, with another mirrored to the port side. Forward of the galley space are two large settees flanking each side with enough seating for at least 8 and which doubles as two berths, while a folding timber dinette sits in the centre to create a great dining space and brilliant storage compartments sit behind.
Forward of the saloon is the heads compartment, fitted with a manual marine toilet to starboard, while a vanity and stainless-steel sink is to port, although this basin has not been used for some time, so its functionality is unknown. Beyond the private head is a large double V-berth in the bow which concludes the accommodation for up to 6. Moving aft, the engine is located below the main companionway and is easily accessible. A Yanmar 15hp unit provides comfortable cruising at 5 knots and is reported to run well with regular servicing, notably an overhaul in 2021.
On deck, the cockpit provides great seating for at least 6 and plenty of floor space when under sail. With the decks in excellent condition featuring moulded GRP non-skid finishings, although there is known superficial osmosis blistering below the waterline, a NEW (2019) mainsail and NEW (2019) STAINLESS STEEL STANDING RIGGING, mean this vessel represents exceptional value! The Cape is ready to set sail!
The Cape is a great example of the popular Sailmaster 845 and has benefited from key major upgrades that ensure it is ready to be used. Featuring great amenities and space for cruising and a clever deck layout for casual racing, The Cape presents a very versatile package.
