The Laurent Giles-designed Salar 40 with its high prow and heavy construction is a well-proven blue-water cruiser. These vessels with their substantial sail plan, their fine entry and their long keel, track beautifully and perform well under sail. Reefing lines, halyards and sheets all lead back to the pilothouse/cockpit allowing the vessel to be sailed efficiently and safely short-handed. The Salar 40 is a true sailing yacht (not a motor sailer) and outstanding in a seaway. This vessel is comprehensively equipped in terms of electronics, electrics and general equipment including a Highfield RIB dinghy (on davits) and outboard motor. The original marketing slogan describing the Salar 40 as, "An Around the World Yacht" wasn't just hot air. The Salar 40s are still sought after for their comfort, seaworthiness and sailing qualities. "Tardis V", with thousands of sea miles under her keel is a fine example of these well-proven yachts. Her current owners have enjoyed some fantastic blue water cruising over the past 11 years or so. Below the deck, the teak cabinetry is to the highest standard giving the accommodations a cosy ambience. An ever-reliable 80-hp Ford Bowman delivers auxiliary power efficiently and economically. With the accommodations configuration... Centre cockpit/pilothouse, aft cabin, spacious saloon and forward sleeping quarters/bathroom the Salar 40 is a viable and comfortable liveaboard.
"Tardis V" has benefited from a solid programme of ongoing maintenance including annual haulouts for maintenance of the bottom and topsides, and engine maintenance. In all respects, this vessel is maintained in a reliable and sea-worthy condition.

Accommodation
'The sheltered pilot-house/centre cockpit (with a rollaway cover aft) provides the skipper with good all-around visibility and complete protection from the elements. Add to this the cushioned cockpit seating and the crew will gravitate to this space keeping the skipper company and enjoying the view. Aft of the cockpit, a hatch opens to the aft cabin complete with a head. This is an excellent sea cabin. Step down from the pilot house (and forward) to the delightful saloon with its fine teak cabinetry. The galley is to port and located to service both the dinette forward and the pilothouse. The chart table is opposite to starboard. The dinette amidships with folding leaves on either side and upholstered settees port and starboard will seat 5 or 6. The aft cabin contains two very generous single berths equipped with lee cloths. These comfortable passage berths afford quick and easy communication with the cockpit crew.
Forward of the bulkhead is the bathroom (hot/cold shower) and the private double berth V cabin. There is plenty of storage throughout sufficient for a full crew on an extended cruise.
