The Snook 26 "Cheval De Mer" is a truly unique Tasmanian yacht with an extraordinary pedigree. Originally launched as a Snook 22 and later professionally extended to 26 feet with a deeper keel and taller rig, she was a standout performer in the Hobart racing scene, rarely finishing off the podium. Well built with a solid fiberglass hull and deck, the vessel has since evolved into a capable and character filled cruiser, with significant structural and interior upgrades including a raised coach roof for excellent headroom and visibility, the addition of a 2006 Yanmar diesel engine, and a thoughtfully fitted-out liveaboard interior. The current experienced owners purchased the vessel in 2021 and have significantly upgraded the vessel including NEW BONDED ACRYLIC WINDOWS, THE CABIN TOP EPOXY TREATED, SANDED, AND RE-PAINTED, DECKS PAINTED WITH KIWIGRIP NON SLIP PAINT, NEW ENGINE AND HOUSE BATTERIES, SOLAR PANEL WITH REGULATOR ADDED, 240V SHORE POWER ADDED, the list goes on. With all the hard work done, this vessel represents an excellent opportunity to enjoy a well maintained yacht for a minimal investment. Whether you are looking for an economical liveaboard, want to enjoy the thrill of twilight racing, or are just looking for a first yacht to learn the ropes, "Cheval De Mer" can do it all in style!
Stepping inside, the clean white finishes and quality timber trims create a light and airy ambience. The generous windows provide ample natural light and excellent visibility out. To port is the dinette with two comfortable settees. The galley runs along the starboard side and is equipped with a portable 12V Fridge, good bench space, and plenty of storage. Forwards is a generous double v-berth (requires a mattress), and there is a private bathroom with a manual marine toilet.
Outside, the generous cockpit is well set up for easy short handed sailing with all the lines lead back to the cabin top, the mainsail in a boom bag with lazy jacks, and the furling headsail. The vessel also has a full suit of electronics for easy navigation including a Lowrance chart plotter, VHF Radio, and NASA depth and speed displays. There is also a symmetrical spinnaker for excellent down wind performance.
This vessel is powered by a well maintained and reliable Yanmar 9HP diesel engine which was installed new in 2006. This provides easy and very economical cruising at 5 knots.
With its excellent pedigree, performance, and versatility, "Cheval De Mer" is a yacht not to miss! For more information please call Jo Breen on or Jack Allison on .
