The legendary S&S34 design has proven its self the vessel of choice for true adventurers to undertake the ultimate sailing challenge - a solo, non-stop, unassisted, circumnavigation of the globe. From 16 year old Jessica Watson, and 17 year old Jessie Martin, to the highly experienced Jon Sanders, these exceptional vessels have more than proven their worth in the most challenging conditions the oceans can throw at them. Designed in 1968 as a versatile cruiser/racing, they quickly reached international fame when British Prime Minister Sir Edward Heath became the owner of the first production S&S 34,'Morning Cloud' which won the 1969 Sydney to Hobart Yacht Race as well as a class win in the Fastnet Race. Since then, the design has continued to prove highly competitive in all rating systems, with multiple vessels being currently utilised for the growing double handed divisions as well as fully crewed in Australia's premiere offshore racing events. "Bendigedig" Welsh for 'Fantastic' is an impressive example of the design, and has certainly proven itself as a true offshore performer! Launched in 1971, it enjoyed a successful IOR racing career in the UK before being dry stored for 13 years. The current highly experienced owner, then purchased the vessel and undertook a comprehensive refit to prepare the vessel for the Global Solo Challenge - a single handed, non-stop, race around the globe. With no stone left un-turned, the vessel was stripped to its bear bones, with everything from the skin fittings to the mast, to the engine, replaced with the most reliable new equipment possible. Relaunched as essentially a brand new yacht (other than the hull) in May 2022, and fully optimised for the challenge ahead, 'Bendigedig' successfully qualified for the epic event and departed on the adventure of a life time in September 2023. Further solidified the design's legendary status, this exceptional vessel combined with the experienced owners skills, exceeded all expectations and proved to be fast in all conditions. Averaging a remarkable 5.7 knots over 12,000NMS, it was proving difficult to catch in the ultimate pursuit race. Unfortunately, due to an autopilot issue which could not be resolved at sea, the vessel retired to Hobart, having sailed halfway around the world from A Coruna, in Spain. Now fully imported into Australia, and will all equipment included, this impressive vessel is ready to take another ambitious sailor on the adventure of a life time! Whether you want to compete in the Sydney to Hobart race double handed, 2025 Melbourne to Osaka Race, or complete a lap of the globe, this is a vessel that is ready to go!

Stepping inside, the interior layout is optimised for single or double handed sailing. To port is the well thought out nav station, set up to be comfortable and functional in even the most challenging conditions. There is a single berth is opposite, ideally positioned mid-ships for comfort, and complete with lee-cloth. Also mid-ships is the Primus gimballing gas stove. Offering exceptional storage throughout, the interior has been redesigned to utilise all available space, with weight distribution also optimised. With plenty of hand holds, and equipment accessible for easy servicing, its clear that the design brief has been met. The vessel is also complete with a manual toilet to port.
