A 12-metre steel hull based on the "Spray" in which Joshua Slocum sailed the first solo circumnavigation of the world.
Spray was a Nova Scotian fishing boat of comfortable beam and exceptional sea keeping qualities.
This beautiful boat has sailed extensively around the world and Australia.
We purchased this in 2019 and set about extensively renovating it from bottom up over the next 2 1/2 years
She was taken back to bare steel and repairs made to any suspect steel work. A completely new rudder was installed. 6 coats of paints to seal and finish the hull.
We stripped the decks and topsides for the same treatment. The Saloon top was removed and a new saloon and cockpit roof built giving extra head height and more protection in the cockpit
The interior was completely gutted, painted, insulated, relined and new furniture and appliances.
"Contents" interior bow to stern.
Anchor locker below a rebuilt windlass 100 metres of chain. 12 volt winch motor (new. ) The chain stores in a fibreglass lined box and drains to a central sump with an auto pump out.
Forepeak has a huge Pocket spring mattress with fitted linen and a large overhead hatch, Storage under bed, wardrobe, cupboard space and a mirror. Some shelf spaces. Separated from the hold by a louvre door and a louvre window. L. ED touch lights and an electric fan
The hold has a shelf with under shelf storage on the port side beside a single chaise that opens to a double bed. Aft of the bed is a 90 litre 12 volt freezer, and a 90 litre National Luna fridge freezer.
Aft of this is a door that carries a 160 litre per hour water maker filter system and control panel. Switches for fresh water pressure pump and raw water pump for deck wash
On the bulkhead behind this door are the pumps, the House battery's and their management systems and Inverter. All Victron systems.
The starboard side has a laundry forward with an inverter powered front loading washing machine plumbed to fresh water. Beside this is a 50 Litre Hot water cylinder. This is plumbed to fresh water, and has a circulating system self-powered to 2 solar water heating panels on the cockpit roof. It Also has a 240-volt electric booster. Hot and cold supplied to the shower aft of the laundry. The shower has a self-draining floor to sump with auto pump out. Also in the shower is a 12 volt macerating toilet, and a hand basin over a cabinet and a wet shelf beside. Vent hatch in the ceiling.
There are 4 hatches and 4 portholes in the hold area and one electric fan. LED touch lights all through.
3 steps up and you are in the saloon
Under the saloon floor is a 56 HP Ford 4-cylinder diesel motor with a Borg Warner Velvet drive gearbox.
Both sides of the motor are twin fuel tanks, total 660 Litres. Twin water tanks 440 litres with a common deck filler and supplied from the water maker. Also, a black water tank 165 litres. This is filled from the toilet and has a gulper pump out. There are a pair of crank batteries on the port bulkhead. These power the engine and electric bilge pumps. Also, the anchor winch.
On the aft starboard bulkhead are a pair of Deep cycle batteries for the navigation bank. This powers the navigation screens, auto pilot, radar, camera navigation lights, davit winches and some interior lights.
The entire exhaust system was rebuilt. (Dry exhaust. )
The saloon floor is 19mm Marine ply insulated. It has easy access panels to easily access engine, filters and batteries.
The port side has a dash top that has an electric fan and the ais radio. Under this 3 drawers wide holds crockery and glasses. Below this is a space accessed by opening 3 panels. There is an access door at the end of this to access the coolant header tank, dipstick and the anchor winch on off switches. Ray kept and acoustic Guitar in this space. Also in here us the loop for the bilge pump outlets and the seacock for the bilge outlet.
Port side has an L shaped lounge with 6 storage boxes under. The seat is a double spring pocket mattress that slides out to make a double bed. (Captains Bunk) or back for lounge seating.
The starboard Dash has the Comsett control box for internet, room for a thermomix (not included). Also on the stbd side is a full length timber bench with stainless single drain sink and 2 hob induction electric cook top, and 4 240 volt outlets. A Moroccan tile splashback with Jara trim.
Under bench is a multi-function oven and 10 Drawers. A 130 litre Vitri Frigo fridge completes the kitchen.
A knife rack and switch panel on a door that covers the helm and the solar controllers for the navigation batteries. The engine start and gauges are mounted to be visible from the saloon or cockpit.
There are 2 vent hatches and two awning windows in the saloon. LED strip lights with dimmable controllers, and an LED touch reading lite
There are 3 steps up to the cockpit. Ray also built steps for his miniature dachshunds who also worked on the refurbish. To access. These are easily removed. The steps all have grip tape on the treads.
Facing forward in the cockpit the port side has the mainsail sheet, furler ropes, and the main out haul. A manual rope winch and jammers. The compass is here. There is a comparted bag to hold the rope ends A storage cupboard for tools and fishing gear etc has a small work top. Starboard bulkhead has a ships wheel, a Morse single lever engine control, 2 9 inch Nav screens and the auto pilot switches. There is a seat across the transom. Davits with electric winches (no Tender Included)
Above the cockpit is a dodger with a solar farm on top. This supplies the battery banks and hot water. Also the stern light and GPS compass
Below the cockpit is the Lazarette. This is predominately storage and also contains the steering gear. The steering gear is boxed in. LED touch light
The jib furler and port and stbd Staysl and Yankee sheets and manual winch are mounted port side. ALL BRAND NEW
The Yankee furler and starboard staysl and Yankee sheets and manual winch are mounted starboard side with jammers. All set up with single handed ease in mind. There lee boards surrounding the cockpit. The dodger roof extends over the davits. There is a full stainless tube safety rail with openings amid ship both sides. A custom landing ladder can be mounted either side and can be left in its up position when sailing.
The mast has ratlines and steps. 2 forestays with furlers for Yankee and Staysl. 4 inner stays, 4 outer side stays and 2 back stays. The radar Klaxon and spreader light are at half mast. The mast head has 2 internet aerials, one radio arial one wind vane and one forward facing camera. The masthead lights.
All ropes are new. Including spare still on the drum. All rigging is new stainless including turnbuckles pins and split pins. The Mast was removed, disassembled and rebuilt, rewired and reinstalled.
A new transducer for sounder was installed
Anchoring gear include a CQR and 100 metres of chain. A spare admiralty pic and spare rope. Mooring lines and fenders a mixture of new and good used. Spare rope for replacement is included.
There is a COMSET internet system installed. There are 2 internet aerials at the top of the mast, with cable to a control box in the saloon. This will require 2 new Sim cards and connection.
There is a notched dipstick for Fuel check Notches are in 15 litre increments
The remotes for the Anchor winch and Davit winches are in the top drawer beside the fridge. The anchor winch has 2 isolating switches behind the mermaid.
There are mattresses, some linen and doonas.
The kitchen has crockery, cutlery and acrylic glass ware
