One Mo' Time (OMT) is a 38' (11.6m) monohull yacht with a 7/8th fractional rig built under survey in 1987 with 9 berths. Her sleek design large deep solid lead fin keel and large fin rudder make her a comfortable, well mannered, attractive, strong, fast, reliable, seaworthy boat. She is extremely, extremely well kitted out and has been extensively renewed since 2023 with a new inboard Yanmar motor, new marine wiring, new electrics and electronics, new windows, etc. Provision her up, choose your destination and sail wardrobe and you are ready for your first trip to the reef. OMT has all the features that make this a very safe comfortable all round sailing boat.
She is set up so that she can be sailed short handed as a cruising live aboard boat, or with a full crew as a round the cans racer or as a weekend sailer. She has in excess of 6' headroom in the saloon, a high boom, a clear cockpit and a sugar scoop for easy tender and water access. The control lines such as main and jib halyards, cunningham, topping lift (uphaul), reefing lines, downhaul, outhaul and spinnaker halyard are all fed back to the cockpit through jam cleats. 8 winches are installed in the cockpit area with 4 of them being self tailing. Her sleek design and deep (2.1m draft) solid lead keel make her a very stable boat even in the largest of seas, we personally have beaten through 2.5m seas with 25 knot head winds and run ahead of 3.5m seas in over 30 knots without any issues or concerns. Typically she sails or motors in the 6 to 8 knot range, we usually plan trips from jetty to anchor or vice versa based on 5 knots average speed and we have always been on time. Being under 12m, slipping and berthing cost savings are usually significant.
Main features include:
Extensive sailing options, from live aboard, cruising or racing round the cans;
4 head sails including storm jib, an asymmetric spinnaker, spinnaker pole, spinnaker bowsprit;
Very reliable new Yanmar motor professionally installed 2023;

Storm jib and baby stay.
Main with 3 reef points.

OMT has a tall pre-bent alloy mast with a single spreader and adjustable backstay. Furlex roller furling is installed on the forestay with twin tracks. She has a #1 genoa, #3 jib and #4 yankee that can be used in the tracks. Long rails are installed down both side decks each with 2 large sheet pulleys for these sails. The #1 and #3 have UV strips to protect the sails when furled. She also has a removable baby stay with a storm sail that can be hanked on. The baby stay can be clipped or tied out of the way when it is not needed. A spinnaker bow sprit can be installed on the anchor roller and used with her light weight asymmetric spinnaker. OMT also has a long spinnaker pole with clips on either end for end to end gybes and a long rail on the mast to adjust the height. The main on OMT is large and we often sail with it reefed. It has 3 reefing points making it a very flexible sail for all wind strengths and points of sail. The main has 4 full battens. Lazy jacks and a boom (main sail) cover are installed. Spare pulleys, and lines are included for use as reaching sheets, spinnaker sheets and guys.

The motor is installed in a sound insulated structure with a blower to extract any fumes. The covers can be easily opened or removed providing good access to the motor, its sea cock, filters, dip sticks, coolant reservoir, and alternator. The Yanmar sail drive has a 2 blade Gori folding prop installed. The sail drive and prop are protected from corrosion with a prop speed coating (applied end of October 2025). An 80 litre stainless steel diesel tank is installed and 2 20litre diesel jerry cans are included. Fuel usage with the new motor operating at 3000 rpm is typically between 1.5 lph and 2.5 lph, depending on sea state, speed and tides. The new motor and sail drive have full service history by an authorised Yanmar workshop.

Live aboard accommodation and features include a double berth in the bow, port and starboard double berths at the stern, and a single and double berth in the saloon. In reality because of the relatively narrow beam she is better considered as a 5 berth boat, and very comfortable with only 2 people. The galley includes a gas 2 burner gimballed stainless steel stove with a grill and oven. The gas locker has room for 2 7kg gas bottles. Customised plate and cutlery storage racks are provided as well as pan storage. There is a single stainless steel sink. The fridge is an approx. 80litre top entry marine fridge or freezer. The fridge is currently set up as a fridge with the temperature cycled between -2C and -10C. By adjusting the level of anti freeze in the fridge coolant it is possible to set it up as a freezer. There is approximately 400 litres of fresh water storage in 3 individually isolatable tanks. Fresh water showers are available at the sugar scoop as well as below decks. The saloon table can be raised or lowered depending on whether the saloon double bunk is required or not. The head has a simple electric macerator pump. A sink, mirror, soap and toilet roll storage is provided in the head. Adequate LED lighting is provided in all the cabins. OMT has a lot of storage space. Doors are provided for cabins and cupboards although we prefer the boat with some removed. The cockpit sits 4 people with ease and has 2 tables, a small 'drinks holder only' table or a slightly larger table for other items. Neither table causes any difficulty moving around the cockpit. We often remove the wheel from the helm when anchored or moored to improve access to the sugar scoop. The Edson chain and wire binnacle system only requires undoing one nut to remove the wheel. The rudder can be locked even with the wheel removed. A real highlight of OMT in the tropics is the absolutely fantastic targa that has been installed. This not only provides the structure for the davits and solar panels, but allows a wonderful shady full bimini to be installed between it and the spray dodger on the cockpit. This also helps to keep the boat clean and dry as well as adds to the comfort and safety. It even provides some shade when sailing. For the fishermen the targa also provides a place to store rods and also provides rod or boat hook holders. The targa also includes a storage bracket for the tender motor. Having had the targa we couldn't see us ever wanting a boat without one now.

Power on OMT has always been more than adequate for all the systems and items we normally use. It is a straight forward 12V system without the complexity of inverters. The two 165W solar panels along with infrequent manoeuvring operations using the motor have always kept the 350Ah house batteries and 120Ah starter battery adequately charged. This includes long hours running the pilot under sail, using the auto pilot, nav lights and keeping the fridge cold. Both sets of batteries have 3 possible charging supplies. These are the solar panels, the motor alternator and a Victron shore power charger. These supplies feed the Victron Argo FET which charges any battery system whose voltage is below the charge voltage by 0.1 volt or more. This ensure the batteries are always receiving maximum charge. The argo FET also always ensures the systems are isolated from each other preventing discharge between systems. The new motor has 130A alternator so is able to boost the systems rapidly. The batteries used in the system are LION brand deep cycle sealed lead acid batteries, not to be confused with Lithium batteries. These have proven to be very reliable batteries in OMT's system and we would replace like for like if we had to. Apart from the batteries and the 240V shore power circuit breaker and GPO, all equipment used in the power system is Victron brand. The new wiring is all tinned marine cable and has been properly fused to ensure shorts do not cause overheating and possible fires. All new cables have been sized appropriately for their current carrying capacity. The wiring has been set up in a tree and branch system using heavy duty busbars for the main trunk connections. There is an unswitched system that operates only the bilge pump and VHF radio and a switched system for everything else. The power for both the switched and unswitched systems comes from the house batteries. The starter battery is only set up to the engine starter motor. All batteries have sufficient CC capacity to crank the motor should the starter battery ever be flat. Call for full descriptio
