TIAKI is a full keel carvel planked sailboat with lead outside ballast and outboard rudder. The forefoot is slightly cut away. Ballast keel is through bolted to floor timbers. Structure consists of backbone, floor timbers, bent frames and planking. TIAKI was built in 1964 near Auckland (NZ) to a design by Bert Woollacott. Bert was comitted to "short enders" so she has a comparatively long waterline. With NZ origin presumably there is some kauri in the build but not known to what extent. It is uncertain whether TIAKI is a one-off or one of a series. At the time of a 2013 refit by Terry Crisp at Deagon (Brisbane) the boat was described as a "Marco Polo cutter" but Woollacott records indicate she is a one-off. Preference is to refer to her as Woollacott 29. With bowsprit and outboard rudder included LOA is about 10 metres. There is a Woollacott Owners Association which includes design records and photos of TIAKI. The hull has NOT been sheathed.
Recent work comprises -
New cutlass bearing and engine service - Aug 2026
