Huon Islander, Carvel planked Huon Pine, 37' 6" Motor launch, Beam 10' 6" ( 3 Meters)
1"1/4 ( 31 mm), Cabin sides 2" ( 50mm ) Huon Pine cabin sides, Decks 2" (50 mm )Huon Pine and Ply covered 2 layers 5/8" ( 16mm) ply covered and dynel sheathed ensures a very tight vessel, all built on Tasmanian Blue Gum Frame. She is a registered vessel official number 855172. This vessel is in excellent condition and attests to the builders Neaves Bros built in 1929, minor repairs carried out during her long life by her various owners.

She spent a portion of her life as a ferry launch by Grants Chanel services as the BRUNY ISLAND FERRY ( in her original name the Gayclite ) for around 15 years during the second world war era and into the 1950's, then being sold to Dr Pitt where she worked ferrying him to the islands of the D'entrecasteaux Channel to administer to his patients. It was at this time her name was changed to the Huon Islander. Damaged in a storm in the early 1960's when she was purchased by the legendary Ray Kemp a famous boat builder near Hobart and he restored her back to a beautiful launch. He had seen her launched in 1929 and always loved the her and kept her as his private vessel untill the1990's when we purchased her.

She has sailed all the way to Cairns and back so she is a great sea boat. She is currently lying In Narooma Wagonga Inlet on the south eastern NSW coast. Huon Islander contains 5 birth accommodation with full beautiful Huon Pine fit out ... Galley, Head, forward cabin, after cabin, main cabin, big open forward deck, after deck has permanent awning cover and full access around the boat with side decks, railings and grab handles. Also comes complete with beautiful 8' ( 2.4 m ) dinghy set up for sailing... On davits.

She is powered by 1974 Ford Lees 380 Cu in Diesel with Borg Warner Velvet Drive gear box. She is capable of carrying 1200 litres of fuel and 600 litres of water. A drive up and down electric Anchor winch 30 m of chain 150m of rope ( makes for easy Anchorage) also complete with gas stove, fridge, and a wood fire stove ( ridgy didge ) cosy for cold winter nights, a full history booklet, plus safety gear as required. .... She has recently been antifouled and topside painted and is presented beautifully, has been in our care for the last 28 years.
