Composite Fibreglass/GRP Composite of E Glass and Polyester resin with Balsa core.
Built with a high spec composite construction of E Glass and Polyester resin with Balsa Core through out, Akira weighs in at 5200 KGs fully loaded. She is a strong and efficient vessel in all conditions, carving through rough chop with ease thanks to the power of her near Volvo 340HP diesel engine and new drive unit, replaced in in 2021..
The original dayboat concept was conceived by Dave Tuke. Dave engaged one of New Zealand's leading powerboat designers Bill Upfold and commissioned boat builders Burch and Mason of Whangarei to Design and build his dream dayboat "Jaunt". The result was such a head turner that there are now 6 of these master built, boutique motor yachts cruising Australia and New Zealand waters. The hull and concept has since been taken by Whitehaven for their new build Harbour Classic 40.
Enter the huge cockpit from the large teak and stainless swim platform and you'll find a large U shaped lounge with a removeable insert for ease of access and an aft facing banquette. There is plenty of room here for relaxing and the Marine Deck 2000 decking is maintenance free. Easy access to the engine is through the cockpit floor, and a massive garage lifts up to hide all the toys when not in use.
Moving forward is a U shaped, raised dinette lounge around a bespoke varnished teak table giving you a second social area that is under cover and out of the elements, perfect for enjoying the cruise in close proximity to the helm. The dinette area and helm provide a 360 degree view of your surroundings and is just a brilliant place to be, whether underway or at rest. New clear covers fitted in 2025 protect this area from the elements while retaining the outdoor feel.
Driving this gem is a pleasure for the skipper from the comfortable helm chair with access to the new electronic throttles, bow thruster, trim tabs, plotter and all other switches, including controls for the ducted Webasto heating.
A few steps down you'll find luxurious accommodation with beautiful Cherrywood joinery. The Master Cabin is inviting with a full size queen bed with plenty of ventilation and storage, and a brand new mattress. There is a double bed guest cabin under the cockpit, right on the centreline providing a great sleeping experience for your guests.
The galley is well appointed, with a white Corian bench top, 4 burner gas stove, Isotherm Cruise 130 Fridge and ample stowage. The head and shower area is large and airy with an Aakronite vanity top and high grade Grohe fixtures.
.
Akira is a stunner that oozes old school charm and style, most certainly one of the prettiest boats you'll find. Her modern build and upgraded power unit and drive system means a new owner will enjoy great performance and reduced maintenance too.
