ATLANTIC DREAM is a particularly well-equipped 1997 Fairline Targa 39 that has benefited from substantial recent expenditure on her machinery, sterndrives, navigation electronics, entertainment systems and upholstery.


Powered by the original twin Volvo Penta KAD42P-A 230hp diesel engines with approximately 850 hours recorded, ATLANTIC DREAM underwent an extensive mechanical programme following her acquisition by the present owners in 2025. The owners report expenditure of approximately £25,000 during this period, with work including engine and sterndrive servicing, replacement sterndrive bellows, alternators and belts, refurbished injectors and extensive fuel-system work. The fuel tank was opened, internally cleaned and fitted with four new inspection hatches.


A major electronics upgrade followed in June 2025. The helm now centres around a Garmin GPSMAP 723xsv multifunction display with European Navionics cartography, supplemented by a Garmin transducer, DSC VHF and AIS transceiver. In February 2026 the navigation package was further enhanced with Garmin Reactor 40 autopilot, GHC 50 control head, rudder feedback sensor and GMR 18 radar.


The entertainment installation was similarly renewed with a Fusion Marine audio system, Signature Series six-channel amplifier, subwoofer and multiple Signature Series speakers.
During February 2026 ATLANTIC DREAM's upholstery was comprehensively renewed, including bespoke water- and scratch-resistant bow cushions. She was subsequently lifted in May 2026, when the underwater hull was antifouled and anodes replaced.


Importantly for a yacht approaching thirty years of age, ATLANTIC DREAM is accompanied by a useful documentary history including her original Fairline Builder's Certificate, historic Bills of Sale and registration documentation. Her identity can be followed through previous names BARBARA ANN and ARABELLA to ATLANTIC DREAM today.


The result is a Targa 39 combining the model's established sports-cruiser layout and performance with a level of recent mechanical and electronic investment that distinguishes her from many similarly aged examples.


BROKER'S COMMENTS


Fairline's Targa range was one of the defining British sports-cruiser ranges of its generation, and the Targa 39 remains an attractive proposition for buyers wanting genuine cruising accommodation without moving into a substantially larger motor yacht.


What particularly interests us about ATLANTIC DREAM is where her present owners have concentrated their expenditure.


Rather than simply improving cosmetic presentation, considerable attention has been given to the expensive areas of an older performance motor yacht: engines, sterndrives, fuel system and electronics. The reported approximately £25,000 mechanical programme undertaken after purchase in 2025 was followed by an unusually comprehensive Garmin navigation installation, modern Fusion entertainment system and complete upholstery renewal.


The original Fairline Builder's Certificate and subsequent ownership documentation are another welcome feature. Together they provide considerably more background and traceability than is sometimes available with a yacht of this age.


ATLANTIC DREAM therefore deserves to be considered not simply as another 1997 Targa 39, but on the basis of her individual specification, recent investment and supporting history.
