Fresh from 2024 refit  Full engines service and sea trials September/October 2024
Developed from the Fairey Marine and James Bond stable, this Swordsman 40 is ideal for taking some overdue holiday. She is presented in excellent condition and is powered by twin Cummins six-cylinder 450hp turbo diesel marine engines. The Swordsman 40 uses the GRP Fairey 'Dagger' hull design which was originally a military boat also used by customs and police. The seakeeping shape of the immensely strong hull is highly respected for boats of this size giving very comfortable passage making. Her aft cabin superstructure designed by Alan Burnard the renowned Fairey Marine naval architect gives this Swordsman 40 pleasing classical lines. She sleeps six in a large aft ensuite double, a convertible U-shaped saloon, and a forward V berth with an additional day head. Navigation equipment by Raymarine includes radar/chart plotter, GPS, autopilot,  depth, log, and Icom DSC VHF. The deck of this Swordsman 40 is complemented by a stainless steel and teak bathing platform with ladder. Anchor equipment includes a Lofrans deluxe electric windlass. She has canvas work for all seasons which includes a sprayhood, full cockpit tent, and a tonneau cover.  Complete with Backpack dinghy, oars and Yard Trailer. This Swordsman 40 has been well maintained by her experienced owner including an engine out / engine room refit (2018/19), new helm, nav. And cockpit cushions (2014) new Aft cabin mattress (2015, hardly used), new cockpit table (2014). New batteries and Victron "Blue Smart" chargers with Bluetooth monitoring App. (April 2022).

2024 refurbishment includes new Elite Teak EVO ring deck, all exterior varnish work rubbed back and given 7 coats, topsides polished. Bathing platform rubbed back.   Stern gear polish, Engine service with engineer sea trials (September / October 2024).

Owners' Comments Maverick has been a fabulous boat to own over the past 10 years. A very sociable boat, the large cockpit is perfect for entertaining seating 6 very comfortably, 8 at a push. Comfortable for 4 to cruise on for a couple of weeks, each couple with their own double cabin, heads, and shower.

She cruises at 24 to 25 knots with the engines sitting at a very comfortable 1900 rpm which enables you to cover large distances very quickly and economically. In our experience, she uses just 75 lph at cruising speed, exceptional for a 40-footer.

I have to mention her sea keeping. I've not owned a boat like her before. The exceptionally strong construction, deep V hull and flare in the bow combine to give a ride that's comfortable and confidence inspiring. It's not uncommon to go out in 20 knots of wind, cruise at 24 knots and come in afterwards with completely dry teak decks. Quite remarkable.

She's a modern classic. All the looks of the 60's combined with the practicalities and reliability of modern build and construction. She is admired wherever she goes and never fails to turn heads.

Full engine out refit included: Engine out Engine room repainted Cylinder head off, cylinders checked, head replaced with new seals Engine stripped and repainted New pipework New engine mounts New oil & filters Gearbox & propshaft out Gearbox opened and checked, new seals New oil to gearbox Engine/gearbox/propshaft realigned on rebuild Brokers' Comments

In 2002 I was the first purchaser of a GRP Swordsman and have since sold many of these boats; Our brokerage and maintenance business has also supported many owners of these boats over the last 20 years from our Hamble Point Marina base (original home of Fairey Marine) which means that we have extensive knowledge of the operation and maintenance of these craft and are able to help buyers and owners in every respect.

The Fairey "Dagger" hull provides excellent sea keeping as recognised by this Swordsman 40's RCD Category B Offshore certification - A boat given category B is considered to be designed to operate in winds up to force 8 (Beaufort scale) and the associated wave heights (significant wave heights up to and including 4m). Of all the Swordsman variants this is by far the best option with the benefit of a large cockpit for entertaining and is the most economical to maintain and operate of the Swordsman 40 motor yachts.

She benefits from a custom yard cradle.

This Swordsman 40 is UK VAT paid (2011) with all original documentation for secure transfer of Title
