Designed and built by renowned Tasmanian timber boat builder Max Creese, this superb Motor Cruiser is something very special. Built out of King Billy Pine, it was originally used as a commercial Abalone dive boat. The current owners purchased the vessel in 1982 and have had the vessel completely refitted for comfortable cruising. The work was done Dutchy Neville, another famous Tasmanian master shipwright, and the finished product really has to be seen to be fully appreciated. The fiberglass cabin was added and features a stunning mix of Tasmanian Huon Pine, Blackwood, and Celery Top floors. The vessel has also benefited from being re-powered in 2024 by a FULLY REBUILT CUMMINS 6BT DIESEL ENGINE, which has been professionally installed. Presenting in excellent condition throughout, this charming vessel presents a great opportunity to enjoy a comfortable and capable motor cruiser with an impressive pedigree!
Stepping inside, the stunning timber work and clean white finishes create and light and welcoming ambience. To port is the generous dinette, with seating for 6 in comfort on the neatly upholstered settee. With panoramic visibility, this is a great space to relax and take in the views of your favourite anchorage. The galley runs along the starboard size. This is well equipped with a 4 burner gas stove, upright 12V fridge, stainless steel sink with pressurised fresh water, and plenty of storage. Forward of this is the helm station with generous seat. With everything inside, this vessel is ideal for exploring the unique Tasmanian waterways all year round. There is a large Navman chart plotter, autopilot, and engine controls at your finger tips. The accommodation is forward in a generous cabin. To port is a double with single berth opposite, and there are two single bunk berths for younger members of the family. The saloon provides additional accommodation with the dinette converting to a double berth when required.
Outside, there is plenty of room in the cockpit to enjoy the sunshine. The engine box makes good seating, or there is space to pull out a deck chair. The transom has walk through access to the large swim platform for easy boarding from the dock or a tender, and the wide side deck and solid guard rails give plenty of securing when going forward to the bow. The vessel is well set up for serious cruising with dinghy davits, large solar panels, a diesel heater, and electric anchor winch.
This vessel is powered by the freshly installed Cummins 6BT 250HP Diesel engine. With only around 600hrs since a rebuilt, and with many new components it presents in excellent condition. The engine provides comfortable and economical cruising at 8 knots using around 13LPH, with a top speed of 10 knots when required. It also has excellent access for easy servicing.
