'Calibre 38' is a Sydney 38 (Hull# 42), built by Sydney Yachts in 2001, and now listed exclusively for sale with YOTI, Pittwater. The Sydney 38's are a Murray Burns and Dovell design and over the years have provided their owners with some of the most diverse, exciting, sometimes challenging, and yet highly rewarding racing possible. The Sydney 38 Association is very much active, and one design class events provide great racing opportunities. Once that is done, the club racing and blue water series beckon.
'Calibre 38' (previously Calibre) is one of the most successful Sydney 38's to have been raced in Australia. Her resume includes two podium finishes in her IRC division in the Sydney to Gold Coast race, 1st in Division ORCi in the 2017 Sydney to Hobart and 1st Corinthian/3rd Overall in the 2020 Sydney 38 National Championships.
Just this year she has had her standing rigging replaced, a new B&G Autopilot fitted, new Tuff Luff, new house batteries and a new life raft fitted. With her previous owner, her instruments were upgraded to a full suite of B&G H5000, including a new touch screen GPS plotter at the navigation table and her Yanmar diesel was replaced in 2019, as was her Saildrive and currently is only showing just over 400hrs.
She has a solid inventory of North race Sails plus delivery sails, along with storm jib and trysail and is fitted with upgraded Harken ST46 headsail winches.
