Solid, capable 35ft length overall steel Van de Stadt yacht, returned December 2025 from a full offshore voyage from Hobart to Fiji via New Zealand. This is a genuinely proven bluewater boat -- not a marina queen. Van de Stadt 34 yachts enjoy an excellent offshore reputation, having completed circumnavigations and voyages to Antarctica. Built in 1988 in Adelaide, she's strong, seaworthy, and has had extensive upgrades and careful maintenance. Yimkin is an easy, forgiving yacht to sail shorthanded or for those wishing to learn, and is ready to step aboard and sail for the weekend or sail off for the tropics.

Major highlights of Yimkin's offshore cruising credentials:
Hard dodger - keeps the cockpit comfortable and dry in rough offshore conditions
Wind vane self-steering - ideal for offshore passages
All lines led back to cockpit for easy, safe sailing
Class B AIS used with OpenCPN, ready with charts for the entire globe
Registered with AMSA - ready to sail internationally

Prior to the offshore voyage Yimkin underwent a comprehensive refit:
NEW Viking liferaft (2024)
NEW windows (2024)
Worry free, heavy duty rig: mast removed, fittings serviced, NEW standing rigging, NEW Reefit headsail furler, NEW mast wiring (2024)
Deck painted and non-skid (2024)
Reconditioned and economical 18hp Volvo Penta engine (2024) - reasonably low engine hours (~2500hrs) starts and runs perfectly
NEW propeller shaft with dripless shaft seal serviced (2024)
Wheel helm with hydraulic steering serviced (2024)
Updated electrics: NEW house and starter batteries (2022) - AGM house batteries with 270Ah capacity, NEW Marlec charge regulator (2024) which handles the NEW solar panel (2023) and quiet, efficient Rutland wind turbine. Excellent charging setup providing a huge surplus of electricity.
Beautifully updated galley with glassed Tasmanian Celery Top Pine benches
NEW mainsail, sail bag and lazy jacks, perfect for short-handed sailing (2024)
December 2025: NEW topsides paint and antifouling, fresh PropOne on propeller and shaft, rudder dropped and serviced

Other attractions to complement Yimkin's remote cruising capacity:
Comprehensive sail inventory: spinnaker, storm jib, two mainsails (one new 2024), two genoas
Easy access up mast with folding mast steps
Failproof manual anchor winch with 75m scope (40m chain, spare 20m chain)
Anchor inventory for every situation: CQR, Fisherman's anchor, Danforth, plus dinghy anchor
Huge inventory of spare parts and tools -- well set up for remote cruising
170L water capacity plus raincatcher tarp
Dinghy with reliable 3.5hp Tohatsu outboard
Massive cockpit locker
Seasquid drogue
Practical, spacious offshore cruising layout for up to 5: double quarter berth, single saloon berth with lee cloth, double berth in forepeak
Spacious head (toilet) in its own separate room, located by the navigation station

Designed by Van de Stadt and built in steel, this yacht offers excellent motion at sea, strength, and true offshore credibility. She's set up the way an offshore boat should be -- self-sufficient, strong, and comfortable. Extensively upgraded, properly equipped, and proven across oceans.
Insurance survey from November 2024 available on request. For sale by owners, selling because we're moving overseas and can't take Yimkin with us. More photos available on request.
