LE LOUP - FUTURA 51 (1992)
Designer: Georges Auzépy-Brenneur · Builder: CTI (Christophe Trouvé Ingénierie) · Hull no. 1
A proven offshore performance cruiser, already in the Pacific. Le Loup was designed with her first owners, three racing brothers, and raced in the Mediterranean from 1994 to 2006 as Loup-Cervier. From 2013 to 2016 she sailed from the Mediterranean to the Caribbean and through Panama to French Polynesia, and she has since served as a sail-training yacht in Tahiti. Class winner at the Tahiti Pearl Regatta 2018; line honours and 2nd in class in 2019.
PERFORMANCE
Ultra-light displacement (10.5 t weighed, D/L ratio approx. 100) with 125 m² of upwind sail. 10 knots close reaching in 16-17 knots of wind, 10 knots average on a broad reach in 20-25 knots. Canted twin rudders (new blades 2017) give a light helm and a very stable boat downwind; the autopilot barely has to work.
