Proven offshore and gorgeous to look at, Bumblebee V has been refurbished and fine-tuned to keep her looking good and sailing fast.
Built in Australia in full carbon for John Kahlbetzer, to a Murray Burns Dovell design under the guidance of master builder and designer Iain Murray, she took victory in the 2001 Rolex Sydney Hobart. That's a result that's hard to match. Under her current owner she returned to the great race in 2023 and finished 6th in class on IRC, so she is still a front-runner.
She has been optimised to be easier to sail with a smaller crew. A pin-head mainsail and a single backstay eliminate the running backstays and keep crew numbers down. Her North sails were built in 2023 and are lightly used, so you can expect a spend-free period.
A true pedigree racing yacht, Bumblebee V suits everything from Wednesday twilight beer-can racing to the Whitsundays regattas and the Hobart race.
