Built by the renowned Baltic Yachts of Finland in 1980, hull number 6 of only 24 Baltic 51s ever produced, she was conceived to a C&C design brief that married offshore racing pedigree with genuine blue water comfort. Few yachts of her era, or any era, can claim a sailing background like hers: an Atlantic crossing that survived a head-on hurricane in her first year afloat, passages through the fjords of Patagonia and around Cape Horn; and most recently, a 15,000 nautical mile, sixteen month voyage from Polynesia to Quebec, sailed hard on the wind against current and conditions.
Baltic Yachts themselves recognised her story, featuring VENUS in The Baltic Log to mark the shipyard's 50th anniversary, a distinction reserved for only the most iconic yachts to carry the Baltic name.
