2024 Excess 11 - Still in warranty

Pegasus is a thoughtfully specified example of the Excess 11, the sub-forty-foot performance cruising catamaran from Excess Catamarans, the sailor-led brand within Groupe Beneteau. Drawn by the celebrated French naval architecture practice VPLP Design, whose drawing board has produced everything from grand-prix multihulls to IMOCA podium finishers, and built at the historic CNB facility in Bordeaux, the Excess 11 was conceived to bridge the gap between a comfortable family cruiser and a yacht with genuine sailing manners under her keel.

She is offered in her most sought-after form, the three-cabin Owners Version, with a generous full-hull master suite to starboard, and is presented with the optional Pulse Line performance package: a taller spar, larger working sail plan, dedicated Code 0 in Mylar and signature deck detailing. These modifications meaningfully elevate the already-respectable turn of speed of the standard boat without sacrificing the cruising amenity for which the model is rightly admired.

Pegasus has been used precisely as one might wish such a yacht to be used. Entrusted by her present owner with the latter stages of a circumnavigation, her Yanmar 3YM30AE 29Hp engines have recorded virtually identical hours, a reliable indication of an attentive operator who has balanced power neatly across both shafts. Returning to European waters, she is presently lifted ashore at Kos in the south-eastern Aegean, undergoing a comprehensive refurbishment programme. On completion she will, to borrow her owners own phrase, be as good as new.

Importantly, the balance of her three-year manufacturers warranty, running from 3 October 2024, remains in place and is available to a purchaser. Add to that her VAT-unpaid status and clean Red Ensign registry, and Pegasus presents an unusually attractive proposition to the overseas buyer, the prospective charter operator, or the long-distance cruiser who would rather inherit a yacht freshly recommissioned than commit a season to the same work themselves.

KEY FEATURES

- Pulse Line performance package. Taller spar, larger working sail plan and dedicated Code 0 in Mylar, delivering meaningfully better light-airs performance than the standard boat.
- Three-cabin Owners Version. Full-hull master suite to starboard with ensuite heads and shower; two guest cabins and a separate heads compartment in the port hull.
- Recently and comprehensively refurbished. Spring 2026 main-dealer service across both Yanmar diesels and sail drives, new boom, new throttles, serviced watermaker, serviced windlass and electric winch, renewed anodes and through-hull valves, full antifouling and three-stage hull polish.
- Genuine offshore credentials. Just returned from a near-circumnavigation in attentive hands; engine hours virtually identical port and starboard at 1,188 and 1,187.
- Configured for short-handed passage making. Twin Garmin GPSMAP 12-inch plotters with worldwide cartography, autopilot, AIS, wind, speed, depth and temperature instruments, and a starboard electric primary winch.
- Connectivity. Starlink high-throughput satellite internet and full ship Wi-Fi installed.
- Comprehensive cruising inventory. Watermaker, davits, Suzuki outboard, Fusion sound pack throughout, cockpit enclosure, bedding for all three cabins and a fully equipped galley including microwave, kettle, rice cooker and portable freezer.

BROKER'S COMMENTS

Pegasus offers an unusually compelling case. The Pulse Line package is the specification serious cruising sailors quietly wish came as standard, lending the Excess 11 appreciable life in lighter airs without compromising her cruising character.

The works currently being undertaken at Kos are far from cosmetic. Both Yanmar diesels and their sail drives have just had a full main-dealer service; the boom and throttles have been replaced; the watermaker and windlass serviced; and the topsides treated to fresh antifouling and a three-stage polish.

With VAT unpaid, a clean Red Ensign registry and the balance of the three-year warranty running to October 2027, this is a thoroughly refurbished example of a model that rarely comes to market in such condition. Early enquiry is encouraged.
