Navicula Blue is a proven bluewater Jeanneau Sun Odyssey 54 DS, comprehensively prepared for long-distance cruising before completing a circumnavigation with her present owner.

Built in 2004, Navicula Blue was acquired by her current owner in 2020 following an earlier period in Croatian charter service. A substantial refit and preparation programme was undertaken during 2021 and 2022, specifically with offshore cruising and a circumnavigation in mind.

The preparation included new stainless-steel keel bolts, extensive hull preparation and epoxy protection, replacement of all skin fittings with Trudesign composite fittings, a comprehensive B&G navigation package, radar, AIS, watermaker, solar generation, heating and an extensive safety inventory.

The work was subsequently put to the test. Navicula Blue was sailed around the world, with ongoing maintenance and further work carried out during the voyage in the Canary Islands, New Zealand and Langkawi.

The Sun Odyssey 54 DS is a well-established long-distance cruising design, combining substantial accommodation with a comfortable offshore motion and the natural light of Jeanneau's deck-saloon layout. Navicula Blue offers four guest cabins, four heads and a separate skipper cabin, making her particularly well suited to extended family cruising, liveaboard use or a couple seeking generous space for long passages.

Her cruising specification is extensive. Highlights include a 60-litre-per-hour watermaker, 960 Ah AGM domestic battery bank, 380 W solar array, twin Victron MPPT controllers, Webasto diesel heating, comprehensive B&G electronics, Simrad 4G radar, ForwardScan, AIS, EPIRB, 12-person liferaft, twin tenders and a substantial cruising spares inventory.

The yacht is offered honestly and in keeping with her age and cruising history. The North Sails inventory dates from 2019 and is used, while the sprayhood and bimini show the effects of extended cruising.

The Yanmar 4JH3-HTE has approximately 9,900 hours and has not undergone a full engine overhaul. The turbocharger has been overhauled and the clutch replaced, with the engine maintained throughout its service life. Importantly, the engine presents very well for its age and hours. Its condition, maintenance history and demonstrated performance should be considered alongside the headline hour figure rather than the hours being viewed in isolation.

For a buyer looking for a substantially prepared and genuinely ocean-proven 54-foot cruising yacht, rather than a yacht requiring years of preparation before heading offshore, Navicula Blue warrants close inspection.

BROKER'S COMMENTS

Navicula Blue presents an appealing opportunity for a buyer looking for a capable 54-foot cruising yacht without undertaking the substantial preparation programme normally required before setting off on an extended offshore voyage.

Her present owner acquired her in 2020 and subsequently invested heavily in preparing the yacht for a circumnavigation. This was a practical bluewater refit rather than a cosmetic exercise, encompassing the keel bolts, hull protection, skin fittings, navigation electronics, electrical capacity, solar generation, watermaker, safety equipment and cruising spares.

Most importantly, the preparation was subsequently proven in service. Navicula Blue completed a circumnavigation and continued to be maintained during the voyage, with further work undertaken in the Canary Islands, New Zealand and Langkawi.

The Yanmar 4JH3-HTE has approximately 9,900 hours. The engine has not undergone a full overhaul, although the turbocharger has been overhauled and the clutch replaced. The current owner reports that the engine has been maintained throughout its service life. Having reviewed the available photographs, the engine presents in notably good condition for its age and recorded hours. As with any used yacht, however, the engine should be assessed by a prospective purchaser and their surveyor on its current condition, maintenance history and performance rather than on engine hours alone.

The North Sails inventory dates from 2019 and is used, while the sprayhood and bimini show the effects of extended cruising. These points should be considered in the context of a yacht that has completed a circumnavigation and are reflected in the asking price.

The attraction is therefore straightforward: a proven Jeanneau Sun Odyssey 54 DS with substantial accommodation, a comprehensive cruising specification and genuine ocean-going experience, offered at a price that allows the next owner to concentrate on cruising rather than preparing the yacht for it.
