Daphnae Overview

'Daphnae' is a serious, strong, shorthanded offshore schooner in fully sound and good condition, ready to sail anywhere in the temperate world. She features strong rigging, a strong hull, a strong motor, and good sails and running rigging. The hull is in great shape, built FULLY GALVANIZED, and has always been maintained. This is not a hurricane or restoration boat; she is simply a good boat that has had a good life and is for sale at a fair price.
With her split rig, lifting keel and rudder, and seaworthy shape, she is a boat that can truly take you places... And in style, at a fair cost. There is also the possibility to continue working the Sea Scout program each summer for the right buyer.
A unique feature of this vessel is the lifting keel, allowing the draft to change from 4 feet to 13 feet. This means she performs exceptionally while sailing and can enter very shallow waters, including many hurricane holes where she can be safely tucked into the mangroves in the event of a storm.
In 2022, her current owner and friends sailed Daphnae from the USVI to the Chesapeake Bay and won the Great Chesapeake Bay Schooner Race, an accomplishment not achieved by just any vessel (or sailor).
Daphnae is truly an exceptional vessel in need of a new caring owner to take her on new adventures.
Note: Daphnae was painted with dark gray primer during her Nov 2022 refit. She is now blue once again.

Accommodations

D aphnae is fitted out inside in a simple fashion utilizing plywood panels and basic joinery, allowing any hands-on owner to access any area or modify the interior to their needs. She carries many different interior layouts throughout the season.
Her current layout is as follows:

Forward most is a large forepeak sail locker accessed from a large deck hatch.

Aft of the forepeak bulkhead is a pair of equal-sized cabins made by splitting the space on centerline, currently featuring a pair of bunk beds on port and a queen bed on starboard.

Aft there is a foyer with lockers and the keel winch at the front of the keel box.

The walkway aft is along the port side of the keel trunk with a pair of bunk beds outboard and a head aft of that.

At the aft end of the keel trunk, the space opens to a chart table to port, the motor box on center (which forms the landing of the companionway ladder), and the galley to starboard.

This large open area circles around the companionway ladder and is fitted with cabinets, drawer fridges, counter space, etc.

Aft of the companionway, occupying the aft end of the cabin, is a large 'U'-shaped dinette easily able to seat 8-10, with a detailed folding table and storage all around.

The master's cabin is forward of the galley, occupying the entire hull space to starboard of the keel box and its whole length, featuring a queen bed and storage, with the possibility of fitting a head as well.

Aft of the dinette, separated by a full bulkhead, is a large launderette accessed from a deck hatch in the cockpit.

History and Owner Remarks

'Daphnae' was a one-owner boat for the first 30 years, then was bought by a film company and used for a movie. In 2018, the current owner bought her from the film company and did a refit for working in the Sea Scout program and cruising the rest of the year. Fresh bottom job, new zincs, and keel pulled to rehab system and check; installed Nov 2022. She is in good seagoing condition throughout.
Note: Daphnae was painted dark gray during her Nov 2022 refit. She is now blue once again!
