Built in 1984 by the respected Chantier Pouvreau in France, Diatomée is a robust 18-metre aluminium sailing yacht designed for serious bluewater cruising. With a 5.5 m beam and 2.7 m draft, she displaces 26,000 kg and cruises comfortably at 9 knots, powered by a reliable 124 hp Volvo TMD40A engine. Her 1,000 L fuel capacity and 1,400 L freshwater storage provide excellent autonomy for extended voyages.

A classic sloop-rigged cruiser, Diatomée offers comfortable accommodation for up to eight guests across four cabins, one queen, two doubles, one single, plus a drop-down saloon berth. She features three bathrooms, each with electric heads and showers, a functional galley with ENO electric stove and oven, and Webasto heating throughout.

Lovingly maintained and continuously upgraded by her current owners, Diatomée has served as a home and expedition platform since 2017, hosting scientists, artists, and adventurers across the Mediterranean, Atlantic, Caribbean, Central America, and the Pacific. Her journey led to a deep connection with French Polynesia, where her owners - both experienced divers and wildlife photographers, found their marine sanctuary.

Key upgrades include new lithium batteries, modern navigation electronics, reinforced safety systems, and an optimised energy setup with solar panels, wind generator, and a 6.5 kW Onan diesel generator. She is also equipped with a watermaker and hot water system, both unused. Auxiliary equipment includes a Zodiac 310 tender with Yamaha 25 hp and Suzuki 15 hp outboards.

With sails renewed in 2017 and partial standing rigging replaced in 2022, Diatomée is fully outfitted for continued global exploration. Following a successful half circumnavigation, her third ocean crossing, including two full circumnavigations by a previous owner, she now awaits new custodians ready to write the next chapter.
