1983 Sparkman & Stephens 52 | Serenity III

Sparkman & Stephens pedigree | Eric Goetz cold-moulded build | Extensive 2020 refurbishment | Proven offshore performance

Serenity III is a meticulously restored 52-foot Sparkman & Stephens performance cruiser, combining a classic IOR pedigree with an extensive modern refurbishment. Originally launched as Golden Eagle in 1983, she was designed by the legendary Sparkman & Stephens and built in New York by renowned boatbuilder Eric Goetz. Constructed in cold-moulded cedar over Nomex core with mahogany structural timbers, she is a lightweight, strong and beautifully crafted yacht from an era of exceptional offshore yacht design.

Her impressive racing career spans the east coast of the USA, Cowes Week, the 1993 Fastnet Race (fifth place), trans-Atlantic and Pacific crossings to Australia, Hamilton Island Race Weeks, and the 1997 Sydney to Hobart Yacht Race.

Her current owner, a highly respected Gold Coast shipwright, undertook a comprehensive 2020 refurbishment to preserve her classic S&S lines and sailing performance while creating a fast, comfortable and modern cruising yacht. Major works included a hull completely faired and refinished in Awlcraft 2000, an underwater hull epoxy coated and antifouled, deck hardware removed and deck re-glassed with biaxial glass and epoxy, a completely refurbished mast with new standing and running rigging including Dyneema runners and halyards, primary winches upgraded to two-speed electric, a new Rocna 33kg anchor with 80m of 12mm chain, and a stainless dinghy davit incorporating 800W of solar.

Below decks, she features completely renewed 12V and 240V electrical systems with a 3000W inverter/charger, comprehensive B&G electronics including autopilot, AIS and forward-looking sonar, a new 80L/hour Stella watermaker, renewed plumbing, new refrigeration, and a four-burner gas stove. Her practical two-cabin, two-head layout showcases beautifully restored Bird's Eye maple, mahogany and teak joinery alongside new headliners and upholstery.

Serenity III represents a rare opportunity to acquire a genuine Sparkman & Stephens performance yacht where much of the expensive restoration and modernisation work has already been completed.
