The refit was specified and project-managed by the Owner who is a Naval Architect.

This Sweden Yachts 50 - European model - is in excellent condition and located in central Ipswich, Suffolk, England, where one of our brokers lives close-by.

After the extensive renovation this yacht was launched in June 2023 from a yard in Brightlngsea, Essex, and sailed to near Ipswich for the new rigging in August 2023. Sailing well in June 2025.

Sweden Yachts are renowned for making well-built cruiser racers with excellent seaworthiness - genuinely long-legged 'blue-water' yachts.
Designed and built to Lloyd's Specification, this Sweden Yachts 50 has three double sleeping cabins, plus the sofa/pilot berth specification in the main cabin, plus an optional full-length berth in one of the aft cabins thus eight adult berths in total and all with lee cloths.
There is a large central main saloon with well-planned galley and dining area for eight on the port side and the navigation and command console on the starboard side (plus the sofa which can become the pilot berth).
The Master cabin towards the bow has its own en-suite facility as well as a working desk thus enabling, with the twin 5G antennas, the ability to be in touch with the outside world as required.

This Sweden Yachts 50 benefits from being owned by a fastidious Naval Architect who has master-minded an excellent renovation over the last 3 years that includes:

- New standing rigging,
- New running rigging;
- New main sail and a new Yankee sail (a high-clew Genoa for serious off-shore cruising);
- New 110hp engine (replacing the original 65hp engine) which has just had its first service and new: gearbox, drive-shaft and 4 blade featherstream propeller - all with about 25 hours use;
(Note: the higher-power engine became standard from 1992 onwards which helps for transit passages under power),

New Flexiteek decking to the 'ring deck' (everything except the cockpit and its surrounding area)
- New skin fittings below the water-line;
- Twelve new keel-bolts for the 6.5 ton wing-design keel that helps to maximise access to shoal areas and sheltered marinas
- New hatches;
- New port-lights;
- Some new navigation equipment;
- Plus many detailed improvements inside the cabins such as new: curtains, taps, carpets, cushions, etc.

Sweden Yachts only made 19 of these 50-footers and they have an enviable reputation amongst knowledgeable off-shore sailors.
This example is a proven blue-water cruiser having sailed the Atlantic in an ARC event.
The wing keel enables this yacht to sail in Shoal Draft waters, drawing only 2.1 metres.

Viewing by appointment with our local Broker who took many of the high-resolution pictures and lives overlooking the marina.

A copy of a recent and detailed survey - and videos - are available upon request.

Accommodation and Layout
From the bow going aft the following is relevant to each cabin given the constant:
unmarked Alcantara fabric;
high-grade wooden panelling; scrubbable /waterproof white carpets;
hot air outlets from the stripped and serviced Eberspacher heating unit.
Holly and maple flooring in all cabins and the floor is level throughout except for the raised dining area.

The Master Cabin is at the bow with its own forward en-suite facility with Corian hand-basin, WC and walk-in shower. The large double bed is to the port side with a desk and writing desk to starboard. There is plenty of storage space.

The main saloon has the stepped mast at the bow end of this open area with an adjacent smart TV with a 'wide-angle' screen and Bluetooth connectivity.
To port is a slightly raised floor area being the dining area which can seat 8 comfortably.
Also on the port side, aft of the sofa and dining area, is a very well-equipped galley with hob, two refrigerators, and two sinks with separate taps for the fresh cold and hot water and also a tap for salt water. The hob has its own extractor fan.

In the main saloon to starboard is the sofa which can be adjusted to become the pilot berth and above is the 'music centre' with radio, DVD player, etc.

Aft of that is the chart table and navigation centre, with repeaters of the navigation functions at the helm. This is also the command console for the vessel's lights and information relating to water storage across the four fuel tanks, similarly for the two water tanks.
There is an extensive suite of navigation and communication equipment.
The 4 fuel tanks were installed new in 2014, made by Tek-Tanks in Hampshire England, and recently cleaned with new pipework enabling the ability to 'bunker' diesel from the most recent source (separate from that already on board).

Aft, on the starboard side in the main saloon, is the wet locker with its own hot air outlet and an extractor fan.

At the aft end of the main saloon, in the centre, are the entrance/exit steps and aft of those is the second heads in the centre of the boat with WC, Corian hand-basin and shower. These facilities are accessed from either the aft port corridor or the aft starboard corridor with a door from each.

The aft port corridor leads to a guest cabin with a double berth.

The aft starboard corridor leads to another guest cabin with a double berth with, above it, the optional extra of a full (1.9 x 0.8 metre) berth although with restricted head-room.

Thus, in total, there are: 3 double berth cabins - one of which has an extra berth above the double - plus the pilot berth so seven full-size berths plus one restricted berth.

Sails, Rigging, and Winches
As part of the re-fit all the Standing Rigging and all the Running Rigging was renewed.
Also, new back-stay and hydraulic tensioner was installed - insulated for the SSB radio

Two new North sails were purchased - the Main and also the Yankee/high-clew Genoa radial cut/higher specification which operates from the self-furling forestay.
There is also a smaller/storm jib for the inner forestay and two spinnaker poles.

Behind the hatch to the windlass is a deep bosun store with warps, sails and also the Parasailor sail being a symmetrical spinnaker for downwind sailing.

As part of the re-fit, all five winches on the fore-deck have been thoroughly serviced, there is an electric winch on each side of the cockpit, and the full list of winches is as follows:

- two Lewmar #66 electric self-tailing two-speed Genoa sheet winches
- one Lewmar #44 self-tailing two-speed Main sheet winch
- two Lewmar #48 self-tailing two-speed Halyard winches
- one Lewmar #40 self-tailing two-speed Reefing winches
- two Lewmar #16 self-tailing Main sheet car control

Central hydraulic system for the boom bang and the backstay.

In addition to the many covers shown in the pictures there is also an all-over boat cover.
