This boat is the last built Van De Stadt 7.1 in Australia (8th) by Graham Jones of GJ Tech marine built for himself before going into retirement. It has the little extras and tweaks not seen in the previous 7 as good as they were.
The 7.1 was designed by the internationally respected Van De Stadt Architects based upon IOR rules for the Mini Tonner class competition in Europe where they have had great success. They are strongly built and safety has always been standard for Van De Stadt designs and this boat has proved itself over and over. This particular boat was sailed by Graham from Adelaide to Melbourne twice winning the Premiers cup in 2009/2000 and runner up in 2000/2001. A earlier built boat was sailed from Adelaide to Melbourne and went on to Tasmania encountering 40 knot winds safely. And from my own experience caught in an unexpected gale on Gippsland lakes I can vouch as to its sea worthiness in heavy going.
This boat sleeps four comfortably a bee birth up front and two bench seats convert to very comfortable bed's easily. A huge ice box will hold enough for a weeks cruising and a well laid out galley with lots of storage space. There is a custom made slide out drawer under companion way with loads of storage for non perishables. A Porta Potti is located under the bee birth. Under each of the seats are storage bins all the things you need for comfortable cruising and above the seats are shelving more than adequate.
Main sale and forsail are in reasonably good condition. Genoa and two spinicas hardly used.
Two heavy duty batteries power the interior lighting and radios as well as the powered halyard winch used also for raising and lowering the 573kg lead keel. New rigging 10/23 interior seats recovered 10/23 windows resealed 12/22 trailer bearings brakes and callipers replaced new gal mudguards and jockey wheel installed 01/23. Suzuki 6hp short shaft 2017 hardly used had 100hr service 12/22. Portable folding solar panel 06/23.
Heavy duty tyres and new gal leaf springs were installed 03/22.
The Graham Jones designed rudder assembly outboard from the transom makes the tiller handling exceptionally light even in the heavy going reducing tiredness on a long sail. Raising the keel is fast and easy with the power winch enabling the beaching of the boat in shallow waterways 30mm depth no problem.
