THE OWNER/SELLER is returning to Rote Island in May. Inspections may commence on May 15th. Rote Island offers a splendid site to see the craft, with pristine waters combed by fair winds, small islands to visit and numerous hotels and excellant eateries by any standard. The gateway to Rote is the airport at Kupang, NTT (KOE), a 1.25 hour by air hop from Bali (or a couple hours from Jakarta).

FYI I have been putting people off since I first presented in Yachthub as it is not my cup of tea to visit Rote (where I maintain a residence) in the "Wet" season.

On to Singapore Sling:

Whether passage-making in search of new surf horizons or fishing or diving off her roomy deck, Singapore Sling offers unrivalled fast sailing and stable, safe cruising. Study the history of this design and you will not find a craft this size with more Trans-Atlantic experience, both racing and cruising.

Simple in design, but advanced in what she can deliver, Singapore Sling can be sailed to weather in harsh tradewinds or off-the-wind with enough speed and surfing to challenge multi-hulls twice her size.

She was made for cruising these waters and on that note, Singapore Sling is riding on a new Indonesia permit, Start date, mid-December 2022, end date mid-December 2025.

Plan to use Indo/Rote as a home base? Good that. Singapore Sling enjoys secure Wet Season shelter in the mangroves of Rote Island for as little as 60 Aus a month.

Singapore Sling, a Val 30, was designed to be sailed single-handed and so, whether busting through chop, reducing sail in high winds or mooring/anchoring, with a small amount of familiarization and practice you can confidently handle most any situation.

Engine 15 HP 2 stoke Yamaha Enduro with four Yamaha tanks. (Also includes 9.9 Yamaha electric start, not installed, not operated for five years). 15 hp only used approx four months.

Furling System
Reef-furl' furling jib, (furlings. Com) provides ease of of handling and control in a bullet-proof design. Control ease translates to efficiently reducing a 180 per cent genoa down to a 70 0r 90 per cent jib with remarkable efficiency. Best of all, no winch required.

Single Handing Setup
Top-of-the-line Spinlock clutches allow for handling halyards, topping lift, and reefing system, all to be controlled from cockpit. High end self tailing Winches. All lines to cockpit, including reefing. Winche are elf tailing Lewmar and Barlows.

Cordage
Lines are either new Samson, or at most, have one seen one season of wear. New sheave in main halyard.

Sails
Sails are in very good condition, including two mainsails, one in use with three reef points (full batten) and 180 per cent roller furling jib with UV strip.

Electronics: AIS with GPS and VHF radio. AIS registered with Indonesia customs and has been tested twice successfully during both check in/check out from Indonesia and East Timor.

Deck being repainted with top of the line Jotun two pack paint and "Softsand" non skid. Cockpit repainted in Dec. 23 as Phase One. Mostly cosmetic, but minor corrections firmed up with fiberglass cloth as needed.

This video of "Little Wing" is the best Val 31 video I have found, displaying a good representation of the Singapore Sling layout, exterior set up, hull out and deck outline and boat-in-the-water.

INTERIOR DETAILS

Sling does not have the little galley on starboard side which looked nice. I, however, always cooked outside which I prefer in the topics. I have a stove, by the way, which is Indonesian, with portable bottle propane gas (available all over).

Note the most forward bow area. That is where I store the anchor chain and rode, running it through the hatch above.

The cabinet to port shown is not on Sling; however, there is a ledge for storage; perhaps 4 inches wide running full length (above the berth) both port and starboard.

No head; no hole in the hull.

Window thru hull. Sling does not have, but rather, a small dining or chart table.
