The North Pacific 450 Pilothouse is a more modern take on the traditional NP45. The NP450 shares the same hull, superstructure, and operating equipment as the traditional NP45, but several upgraded features take the new NP450 to the next level of luxury. For those who are looking for the quality, attention to detail, and inviting feel of a trawler, but prefer a more modern style, the NP450 may be just what you're looking for.
Hull & Superstructure:
The North Pacific 450 is designed with a reverse rake pilothouse and bold look to reflect the true capability and function of this long-range coastal cruiser. Large, bonded windows in the salon, pilothouse, and staterooms complement the rugged look with a modern flare- a distinct feature and styling change from the traditional NP45. The superstructure is made of fiberglass and cored mostly with a synthetic lightweight closed cell foam, which increases stability and eliminates the possibility of rotten decks. Rigid PVC squares are used in areas that require more strength. The hull and superstructure are a shoebox design and are epoxied and fiberglassed together for a strong and lasting bond. The hull is solid, hand-laid fiberglass, which adds to the stability. A vinyl ester resin is used in the outer two layers of the hull to prevent blistering. Below the waterline is additional protection in the form of an epoxy barrier. The stringer grid on the NP450 is exceptionally rigid, increasing the hull strength.
Flybridge
The upper deck of the North Pacific 450 can be accessed by stairs on both sides of the pilothouse or the ladder from the cockpit. The custom made ladder stores tightly against the salon bulkhead when not in use to maximize space in the cockpit, and pulls out to a comfortable and safe angle to access the upper deck. This configuration allows easy access around the entire perimeter of the boat, which eliminates the need for side walkway decks. This works well for hanging and retrieving fenders on either side of the boat. The upper deck has enough room for an 11´ dinghy and a high quality electric davit is standard equipment. There is bench seating on the port side of the flybridge, and an L-shape settee on the starboard side, both finished with exterior grade Ultraleather. The tapered table at the L-settee is large enough for several people to gather around for a meal. The area between the settee and bench seat is finished with Flexiteek- a luxurious touch on the NP450. The two helm seats are raised and provide good forward visibility. A large raised dash allows plenty of space for all the standard controls, as well as the standard electronics package. A hardtop above the seating area is standard on the NP450, providing both a platform to mount all of the various antennas and protection from weather. A folding radar arch is an option instead of the hardtop to reduce the air draft.
Foredeck
The foredeck around the bow is accessed through the pilothouse or from the upper deck. High freeboard and heavy-duty 1 ½" stainless steel handrails offer protection and safety. Courtesy lights around the foredeck light up the non-skid fiberglass surface, making walking around safer even on a rough night. At the bow is a 24v electric Maxwell windlass. A highly respected Rocna 33 (70#) anchor, with 280 feet of 3/8´´ G4 galvanized chain, is standard. This anchoring package helps owners rest easy at night. The split chain locker allows for chain storage on one side and provides a great space for fender and line storage on the other. A molded-in seat at the bow makes an excellent place to enjoy a nice harbor or to cruise with the standard Bluetooth autopilot control.
Cockpit
The cockpit deck of the NP450 is enhanced with integrated, reversible seating. Face forward to dine with others or flip the backrests and high gloss teak table around to enjoy a meal just a few feet from the water. The optional underwater lights make this a nice place to unwind after a day of cruising. There is a bulwark boarding door on each side as well as two transom doors on each side of the seating. The cockpit is finished with Flexiteek decks. These are synthetic teak decks that look just like real teak but require no maintenance and never fade.
Swim Platform
Just one step down from the cockpit is a large swim deck, also finished with Flexiteek. Storage lockers on each side of the swim deck house a deck washdown connection and a Smartplug shore power connection. A hot/ cold shower is also standard on the NP450. The height of the swim deck aligns nicely with most floating docks. This is also a perfect area to board kayaks, SUPs, and the dinghy.
World-Class Finishing; Inviting and Comfortable.
Remaining consistent with the North Pacific Yachts legacy, The NP450 is finished to world class standards.
The interior of the NP450 is covered with horizontal grain teak and ultraleather wall panels which gives the boat a more modern feel. Wenge accents and trim contrast the teak and create modern lines. Other features differentiate the NP450 from the traditional NP45, such as Ultraleather wrapped stainless steel handrails, durable engineered white oak flooring, lacquered cabinet doors in select areas, and more modern hardware throughout. Multiple layers of lighting, large windows, and high ceilings create a bright and open feel.
Salon
The large full beam salon rivals that of many boats in the 50-55' range. Adding to the feeling of spaciousness is a custom-made stainless steel and glass sliding salon door aft. This upgraded door allows for great views aft from the salon and the galley. A retractable screen door keeps insects out. The expanded windows on the port and starboard side continue the panoramic views. The salon layout is customizable, but the most popular layouts include two residential style recliners on the starboard side, facing an L-shape settee/ dinette with a high/low table that doubles as a coffee table. Also to port is a TV on an electric pop-up lift.
Galley
The U-shape galley in the NP450 is easy to work in. The abundant countertop space is well lit and there is plenty of storage. The galley is well equipped with quality Bosch appliances, a large single or double basin sink, and premium quality countertops. The window behind the sink provides tons of natural light and great views while working. The lacquer finished upper cabinet doors contribute to the bright and airy feel. Your choice of electric/ induction or gas cooktop is located on the aft side of the galley so that you are not excluded from the salon while preparing a meal.
Master Stateroom
The master stateroom is spacious and easy to move around in. Thanks to the plumb bow, the bed is positioned very far forward, allowing full use of the entire waterline length of the hull. This hull design also allows for massive amounts of headroom. Access to the front of the bed is just one step up, which makes bed-making an easy task. On each side of the bed, you'll find a side table finished with premium countertops or teak, a reading light, and a power outlet. The bed platform is hinged in the front and lifts with the assist of gas struts for access to systems and storage. Cedar lined hanging lockers, several drawers, and storage lockers with lacquered doors are invaluable for extended stays and longer cruises. Two large hull windows with opening portholes and an overhead opening hatch provide natural light and great views below deck. The NP450 can be built with an ensuite head or additional storage space with built in dresser.
Guest Stateroom
Several different layout options are available in the guest stateroom, including a single bed, bunks, an office, or a custom configuration. A large hull window with opening porthole continues the light and bright theme of the boat. Your guests will enjoy a well-lit cedar lined hanging locker and plenty of drawers and cabinets. They may never want to leave!
Linen Closet
At the forward end of the hallway on the starboard side, there is a linen closet with lots of useable storage. This space can also be used to install an optional vented washer/dryer, a stacked washer and dryer, or an additional freezer.
Head
The fine finishes found throughout the NP450 carry into the head with teak walls and cabinetry, white oak engineered flooring, and solid surface countertops. A mosaic backsplash was added behind the sink/ faucet- a luxurious touch. The separate shower stall is upgraded with Meganite and mosaic walls, a Meganite floor, and a teak or meganite seat. Access to the shower is through a frosted glass door. The shower has an opening porthole as well as an exhaust fan and drains to a reliable, Whale gray water diaphragm pump. A second head without a shower can be added to the master stateroom.
Pilothouse
The pilothouse has also been upgraded with modern touches, but retains the functional layout and great visibility of the traditional NP45. Aft of the Llebroc helm seat is a settee with seating for several guests. A teak table can be folded down from the port wall making this a great place to set up a laptop or to enjoy a meal while underway. The bench seat can quickly and easily turn into a full bed, or creates a L settee for a more comfortable place to sit during long passages. The large helm console provides space for the various electronics and screens. Doors on each side of the pilothouse provide quick access to the side decks and provide great visibility while maneuvering.
Floor Structure
All floors in the North Pacific 450 Pilothouse are held up by an interlocking aluminum floor grid. Unlike wood, this will never sag or swell over time, and it adds strength and rigidity to the vessel.
Electronics
A full set of Garmin electronics is included in the base price of the North Pacific 450 Pilothouse. This includes chart plotters, autopilot, radar, fish finder and VHF radios. Due to rapidly evolving electronics, the standard list changes, so please inquire for details.
Engine Room
The engine room on the North Pacific 450 Pilothouse is spacious and well lit. The engine room is well-insulated with quality 2´´ foam/rubber/lead sound dampening insulation. In addition to this, rubber is installed on the aluminum floor grid to isolate the salon floor from noise and vibration. Access to the engine room is through a hinged, gas-assisted hatch in the salon. There is plenty of space around the engine and generator to comfortably access all areas. The North Pacific 450 Pilothouse comes with a standard oil change system for the engine, transmission and generator, making oil changes easy and clean. There are two fiberglass baffled fuel tanks in the engine room with a capacity of 400 gallons. For additional range, the tankage can be increased to 700 gallons.
Mechanical Equipment
The North Pacific 450 Pilothouse is powered by a single 355hp QSB 6.7L Cummins diesel. Larger engines and twin engine configurations are available for greater top-end speed. Standard equipment on the North Pacific 450 includes a large rudder and a very powerful 24v Sleipner bow thruster, providing the maneuverability to make docking in any slip easy. A stern thruster is optional for those who like the maneuverability of twins but the economy of a single engine.
Electrical Equipment
A quiet Northern Lights generator with sound shield and water/gas separator, Victron pure sign wave inverter/charger, 160-amp alternator and a large AGM battery bank means you'll have plenty of power. If you are looking to extend your time at anchor, solar panels and lithium battery options are also available.
Plumbing
The freshwater system consists of a 240 gallon fiberglass tank in the bilge and heavy duty dual Marco pumps and accumulator tank for quiet and reliable operation. The 20 gallon electric water heater is located in the engine room.
